On its way......
I just got back from putting a deposit down on my first Mustang. '97 GT, laser red 281 cammer, etc. Can't wait for the rest of the funds to come through. Just thought I would share my excitement with you. All of a sudden all the Mustang stuff I have lying around doesn't seem so weird.
Anybody have really memorable stories of their first day with their stang?

congrats man,
yes, it was a cold january day, bout 20 degrees outside, l had looked her once over the previous weekend and had my shop guys look her over several days earlier and give me the lowdown on her state and after an exhaustive 6 month search there she was... my forrest green 94 gt, auto, no exhaust... loud as hell. The moment i turned her key: brief silence an then that thunder sprang to life under her hood... a tap of the gas, a lil snarl from her... i eased her out an gassed her, nice throttle reponse, good brakes.. I thought as I came to a stop sign. taking off, the dumps under my floor seat shakin the cabin with furious vibration at 20...so i picked up to 40 an on to the on ramp. time to open her up.. i nailed the gas, the engine roared to its fever pitch, cars straking past me as i flew down the ramp at 60mph and climbing... "god I thought to myself ..this car rocks!!"

Very cool, Mike! You're gonna have to change your avatar!
Just out of curiosity, what's the total price? Take care, ~Chris

First Mustang
Duece:
Congratulations! I guarantee you that after you take your first drive in your 'new' Mustang you'll feel like a different guy; stand taller, more confident and of course, you'll smile a lot. This is not hyperbole, you'll see. Meanwhile, treat it good, savor the power and the fun of driving a Mustang V-8 but don't get crazy (or stupid) with it, of course. It's a lot of car. Enjoy! |

Chris - Check your PM.
Jim - Thanks. I think I will remember I don't have to drive this car flat stick to make it go. I have found that the faster a car is the more responsible I am with it. It seems counterintuitive, but its true. Everybody else - As far as the price, I came home feeling good about the deal. Then I checked the Kelly Blue Book site, and now I feel real bad for the seller! What I thought was $1,000 over book wholesale was only $300, given the options, mileage and part of the country. She priced the car based on what a dealer was going to give her as a trade, and that turned out to be highway robbery. I'm going to borrow a digital camera to take some pics when bring the car home. Watch for a new Avatar, it will actually be my car this time.

Congrats on the purchase of your mustang.
I remember the first night i drove the stang by myself afgter i got my license I heated the tires up a lot. Was sideways a million times and made lots of noise. That is still my funnest night in that car i think. It was last october.

What about your 04 Cobra? Is she just going to be the second member of your Mustang family?
That 97 GT is going to be a great, smooth car, and a real killer with some enginework. Welcome to the MADNESS!!!! |
