Default subwoofer boxes for -97-93 mustangs...help!!

I know this doesn't belong here but the audio section doesn't see much traffic.
I am in the process of transfering my stereo system that was in my Plymouth Ciolt into my '88 mustang and suddenly noticed tonight that the sub box won't fit.
Does anyone know the dimensions I will need for my new subwoofer box?
Those measurements would be GREAT!!

You base the size of your box on what you sub needs, NOT on what will fit in your car.

What size, brand, and model sub to you have? Get me that info, and I can help you from there.

Well JL recomends 1.50 cubic feet per sub. Their box recomendations are for a 20x13x14.25 box, but since a fox body's hatch is only 37" wide We'll have to play the numbers game. *fast forward*

A box that is 36(w) X 13(h) X 17.25(bd) X 14.25(td) should yeild a box that has 1.56 cubic feet per sub....in other words damn close.

Will you be buying or building a box?

I went to the audio shop just now and they quoted about $175 for them to build a sealed box for them. Does that sound about right? That includes carpet and all.
I'm not a very good carpenter so I will either let them build one or find someone that's selling one.
Right now they are in a box 38(L) 14(w) 15(h) and that's too high for the hatch to close.

Default I think they will work now

Tonight I removed the carpet from the sub box and now the box fits between the rear shock mounts.....BARELY
Does the carpet have anything to do with the sound?

if you aren't that good of a carpenter and don't wanna bother with it, i'd first check for a used one. but if the guys at the sound store are good then go for it and get it through them. cause you wanna make sure its a good sealed box.

175 is WAY too much for a box. I built my box for about 30 bucks

All carpet does is make it look better.

PM me....I can probably make you one.
