LOSERS!!!!! and thats all I have to say about that.

Thats whats wrong with this worldNO RESPECT for other peoples things.

If you took "YOUR" car to a mechanic and he took your car to the track and abused it would it be funny then?

Dark_5.0....Thrifty, along with most other rental agencies have insurance on these cars....and it's no big deal to have 1 of their thousands of cars breakdown... It's a little different than your mechanic taking your ONLY daily driver out and blowing the thing up. They're just having a little harmless fun. If Thrifty had a big problem with this they'd probably go out of business, but they thrive. So one of their cars is broken from doing this...big deal.

Back in the late 60's there were things called Rent-a-Racers....Hertz used '69 Mach 1 428 CJs to rent out to people to take them to the track....how many of those do you think were damaged? I'm sure just about all of them were in some way...

If this was their wife's mom's car, it would be a different story...but it's not....so it'll be ok man....

..and I thought my uncles and I beat the crap out of our rental cars down in Florida. Man I wish I'd had that kit. If you buy the insurance option, I don't really see the problem. The Uhaul guy always tells me I could burn the entire thing to the ground and their insurance option would cover it.

Exactly. Since a copany owns it, blowing one up will have no fiscal impact on them. Their insurance matrix is so large, nothing will change, and they will get a NEW car. If my insurance worked like that I would gladly let you do that to any of my vehicles. I could use a new one.

I do see your point, it is less than ethical. But then so are off road h-pipes when you take them back off to smog a car in CA.

I still think its funny.

This situation is NOTHING like having your mechanic beat on your car. I'm not sure, I'll have to ask the accountant but they could probably even write it off as a loss toward taxes...I already feel my pity dwindling away

I'm a HUGE champion for increased personal respect in this shitty world, but rental car companies just don't seem to make my list as of yet

I thought so too!

Belle, I am an accountant, and yes any loss they suffered would be deductable. In fact, one Neon would be immaterial to them anyway, meaning its not worth enought to their bottom line to really go looking for it.

Now, if only I was old enough to rent a car.....

BTW, you said it incorrectly. Since I know there are some people out there who like to be all up in someone's word usage, I feel that I must remind you that the correct terminology is...

NAWS!!!

Yeah, I know you are, Joe, and of all the people I know, you deserve it the least. Life sure does deal out some strange cards sometimes.

Sorry man.
