As long as you like it, that's all that counts!
I've had a difficult time setting up a good system in my F-150, but I finally am happy with it. It would have been much easier if I still had a trunk! Take care, -Chris

That's cool! Isn't lightning a product of Rockford Fosgate? I too am surprised by the Pyramid name being in the list but, as long as it works.
I was happy with my old system but it was stolen and I tried to replace it with better stuff but... my old system was much much clearer. I think its the ecplise amp(had a Pioneer) that is ruining it for me. Not sure but, if that isn't it then it has to be the head unit.. I had a 6000 series Pioneer and decided to go with a 4000 series this time(the specs looked very close). Anyhow, cool! |

Rbatson, no lightning audio isn't a division of Rockford Fosgate.
It's probably you HU that's you problem, that eclipse amp should be a lot better an the Pioneer.

302blownpony have you ever gotten your system metered? If so what did you hit?
I've got to go get mine done soon. I should hit in the high 130 Db range, maybe into the low 140's

Josh, that is the exact thing I was thinking until I saw the THD on the eclipse amp. The Pioneer amp was something like .03 or .05 and the eclipse amp is a staight up .1%. I'm not saying eclipse makes crap but in the amp territory, .1% is a class D THD. A class A or B should be much much lower. I think they 'may' make good stuff, such as speakers or head units but a .1 THD is unacceptable. When I find the exact cause I may have to eat my words but.. that is the world as I see it.

How do you guys with big systems in your foxes keep your hatch from rattling? I got a little 10" punch pushed by a 200w kenwood amp in mine and the hatch rattles like crazy sounds like crap.

Josh, hate to break it to you but yes Lightning Audio IS a Rockford Fosgate Product (I shouyld know Im a rep) and about the Pyramid....I bought it for 80 bucks from a friends when I was first getting into audio....and I belive it will also be the next kind I buy..I love it...I know people with punch 500's and such and mines not as loud but I have the cleanest bass you will ever hear...and picked up my new box yesterday...its just a ported box but the guy that built it cut out the JL symbol real big out of styrofoam(thin) and glued it to the wood on top before he put carpet on it as a result I have the JL symbol raised up in my carpet ITS SWEET. I will get a pic soon

oh, I so sorry Dark 5.0, I was thinking more like high 130's. They are in a hatchback, and are being fed about 800 watt's. I'll let you know in a few weeks BTW, was your truck metered off the dash or the port?

For some reason I thought your car had a trunk.
Yeah, High 130's sounds about right. My truck was metered off the dash. Its hard to tell sometimes......My friend has a mid eighties blazer with 2 solo isobaric 15's and a monster Kicker amp. He got 143 db. I guy with a stang like yours had 2 JL audio W0 15's and a 300 watt amp and also hit 143 db Dont pick a song with long drawn out bass....Short deep bass usually meters higher. Good luck,
