Civil war: Brother vs. Brother, a family divided
what he's got:
my little brother(2 years younger) is a HUGE Chevy fan. he's got a 1981 silverado with a 350/350turbo tranny, oh yeah, 1 wheel drive. he's a senior in high school and gets to do whatever he wants in shop class. his project was a 385 stroker(383 stroker that's .040 over instead of .030) for his truck. guess what? the motor gets dropped in this week. and he wants to race. he's gonna put the stock 350 heads, intake, and a holley 650 on the engine with a fairly rough cam. now he's really talking trash about how his truck is gonna kick my 5.0's @$$ and that he's gonna finally get even for all the times i beat him with his stock 350. what he doesn't know: i put my ZEX nitrous system in today. i'm gonna test it out tomorrow and see how well it works. we're gonna race sometime next week, probably friday night. the first time we race, i'm gonna go all motor and let him win. then i'm gonna put some cash on it(gotta mess with the little bro) and use the juice. i can't wait til i see the look on his face! i hope he doesn't cry....

You are decribing a mid 15 sec. truck.....I wouldnt worry.
My brother had an 83 silverado built 400sb turbo 350 tranny with shift kit and 3.73's with posi and ran a 15 something.

Dude with the stock 81 350 heads it's gonna SUCK ***. Toast him on all motor, then HUMILIATE him with the spray.

Don't make it too obvious though.....when you race him the first time, incinerate your tires off the line and let him get a good head start and stay back a ways, then race him for money. At least....this is what i'd do
Tell us how it works out, i'm interesting in hearing this.

You will SMOKE him on motor, and DEVESTATE HIM on spray.
This is a ridiculous race. He obviously doesnt know how to build a motor if he puts stock 81 350 heads on a 383. Skyler

New package in the mail
ok, my little brother got a package in the mail today. it's a box marked edelbrock. i believe there are heads in this box. it was pretty heavy and the right shape and dimensions for cylinder heads. looks like he's got something up his sleeve. he doesn't know i saw the box though. i'm still not worried. at least not yet. if all else fails, i'll turn up the juice, it's adjustable to 125hp. i've got the 75hp setup right now. this makes me wonder if he doesn't have some other surprises waiting for me. hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

You'll still beat him! Don't worry about anything. He will "sit" on the line spinning his WHEEL. He should have ordered a narrowed rear end with a Detroit locker, tubs and Goodyear slicks. SMOKE HIM!!!

A one legger in a pickup truck won't have hardly any traction at all. Extra power might even hurt him. My guess is that you'll teach little brother another lesson.

please...you don't even have to list mods to see whose gonna win this, look at the original factory designs of these two vehiclesA) built for aerodynamics, speed, and to do one thing...haul ***
(B) built to haul wood, gravel, etc. take him to skool an when ya do whoop his ***, your reward should is he has to build you a blown 460 to drop between the front struts of your "cheby" killer... duh! anything will fly if ya throw if hard enough. I wanna drag my ol '89 Crown vic, but i ain't got the funds to do it with my stang right now. but ya know, I respect anybody who takes care an loves their car be that ford, chevy, mopar, hell even imports. we're all the same deep down...car people.

The end result............
ok, we finally raced sunday night on a dead country road near our town. the first time we raced, i sat at the line and burned rubber on purpose, to let him get about a length ahead of me. then i just stayed on his bumper the whole way til the end. he was all sorts of happy and was talking all kinds of crazy sh!*.
i challenged him to a rematch and he accepted. i know what you're all thinking, juiced him, right? nope, not yet. well, this time i tried for a good launch but i messed up and my foot slipped off the clutch so i spun a little, but no where near as bad as i did the first race. i pulled ahead by 2 car lengths halfway thru the race and he kept falling back. not even close. then, little bro wants his rematch. of course i say i'll do it. this time i got a really good launch and hit the juice at about 60 mph. wow, he was shocked. he was p!$$ed too. when he saw my car take off at 60 like that, he knew what was up. he may be still in high school, but he's not dumb. he's got a pretty nice engine in his truck. he said he still wants another race when he gets "a locker and a tranny that doesn't have 150000 miles on it." i hope he finds them so we can race again.

I told you he was no match for you. What heads did your brother get from Edelbrock?
