Time to kick some SERIOUS arse!!
We've been busting our butts getting the Sprint car done for tomorrow (Saturday). That's our only open practice at the track before the season starts next week. It will be our chance to fine tune, and everyone elses chance to see what everyone else has. It's also the first opportunity for some idiot the wreck our new paint, but I won't think that way. Below are a few pics I took today.
Almost finished Engine mounted and plumbed. Check out all of our radiator hoses! Jim wiping it down just before we loaded it on the trailer. It still needs all the sponsor decals, and our number, but that will come next week. Take care, -Chris

Hey, isn't that a Chevy engine in there?!?! j/k
Seriously, the car looks great - much larger than I thought (must be the whole TV effect thing). Best of luck with this season. Keep us informed on how your Team fares. E

Thanks for the kind words. We had a very busy practice session, sending the car out 6 times for fine tuning, but I'm happy with it now. This week is being spent applying sponsor decals and so forth. The only real problem we encountered was when Jim (owner/driver) discovered he left the keys to the trailer at home in Moorpark, 45 minutes away. After borrowing a drill, we solved that problem.
srv1- We have everything set up so that the engine runs consistantly between 180 and 190 degrees. There is no fan, but the waterpump, which is driven straight off the front of the crank, and the radiator are plumbed straight into the block and intake manifold, so the water circulates well. Where most engines have freeze plugs in the sides of the block, we have a/n fittings, which have hoses directly attached to them. The only time we run into any trouble is if there are several caution flags, which keep us doing slow laps. Once up to speed, cooling isn't a problem. Take care, -Chris

Thanks. You should see it when he gets on it! Sidways through the turns! I'll post some pics when I get them. I'll tell you what sucks, though: last season there was one car that was neon orange, and for the last two races one car that was painted to look like a 76 ball. Other than that, no orange cars. That's why Jim chose orange for the primary color this years. Well, last Saturday at practice, I counted 5 orange cars! Sucks, man. There's more orange cars now than any other color. Go figure. Ours still looks the best, though!
Take care, -Chris
