Post Official Fast and Furious conclusion

plot was null

cars were cool

offical conclusion:

rice is good, if and only if it is as fast as the wings/hoods/effects say it is

when it makes sounds like an indy car does, i'm good to go

(nothin quite takes the place of that V8 rumble though )

We drove by the movie theater at like 7:30 toinght coming home from work. I could see that the parking lot was full of ricers. Covics, neons, etc. taking up two spots so no one hits there precious car with a door. Man, I wish I still had the 91. I'd go down there with some cash and see who wanted to race...

TURBO.

those can substitute for cubic inches, but only in the sense that they can make a 2.5L engine run with/past a 5.0L engine. however, if the 5.0L engine was turbocharged as well, it would outdo the 2.5L, because it has more dfisplacement and can burn more fuel. in reality, the only way to make more power is to burn more fuel and air. forced induction is one way to burn more fuel/air, displacement is another. pick your poison.

Wow i wish i had those cars:
they all had at least 7+ speed transmissions (me and a friend counted the upshifts, some totalled more than 10!), the second speeding scene in the movie i heard 7 shifts.
they all had turbo noises even the cars without turbos
That "9 second muscle car" stayed even with a "10 second" supra that had stiff road racing suspension
The cars would keep on going even with catastrophic engine failures, and you can still race them without them sputtering and dying.
The civic going at least 60 trying to keep up with the semi pulls off the road and stops within like a 30 foot area. Jesus, those are good brakes, 60 to 0 in 1 second, very nice.
The real funny stuff came after the movie when high schoolers in their "hot rod" primered civics and stock, well anything, did lots of wheel spinning in the rain because with those 100 horsepower HOT ROD engines how can you not keep it from spinning. *note that it's a RACING movie and as i and my friends knew in advance cops would patrol the area to watch for idiots peeling out and driving like asses.
With all those wings and ground effects i expected some of them to fly around like the delorian in back to the future (2 or 3...or whatever).
I think the movie sucked, so did the plot, but whatever that musclecar was, it was pretty cool looking at least (for the 5 minutes they drove a real car before destroying it). I thought the head gang guy's RX7 (i think) was pretty decent looking, and there was like 1 or 2 other cars (i think there was a fairly cool looking Skyline in there as well). Whatever, this is just my worthless opinion and i'm sure more people liked the rice than not that went to see the movie, but i'm biased.
