Disappointment at track: Need suggestions!
Hi,
Well, what a day. Got there at 10:30am, and had to wait till 12:30pm or so before we could make our first run. They were drying the track from the rain the night before. Lotsa puddles in the potholes in the pits for most of the day. Anywho, out of 9 runs (me 5, my bro 4), I managed a best of 15.1s @ 94mph. My 60ft. times were horrible, with the 15.1s resulted in a 2.5s 60ft. From the changes I had made: shift-light, short-throw shifter, K&N in fender and BFG Radial T/As 265/50/15s (@ 27psi), I think the BFGs weren't as good as I hoped. I skipped the water box but still did a decent spin to clean them out. On all my runs, either I spun through 1st gear or wheel hopped like crazy (I will have videos of these soon). I can't figure out what else it could be? Maybe I was launching in 1st too high, cuz I think I was doing 1700-2000rpm launches. I also made the mistake of shiftnig to 2nd @ 4500rpm on my 15.1s run. Maybe I need better lower-control-arms for the added traction cuz of these tires, or I should have run lower tire pressure (was running the BFGs at 27psi). I dunno. What can I do to not have this happen again when we go for Nov. 3rd/4th? I will try to get the timeslips and videos up soon hopefully. Thanks! Bye ------------------ Gautam N. are you slipping the clutch any or just letting it out fast and flooring it? try around 2000 rpm and slip it like your driving on street but a but quicker and wait till car is moving then floor it,

Hi,
I was dumping it I think. Overall, I think I was just having a bad day. I know I can do better, but I just wasn't as focused as I should have been. Will try again in a few weeks. My bro's times were mid-15s (his best from last time was 15.27s, and my best is 14.76s). Bye! ------------------ Gautam N. Lad http://www.cubicdesign.com http://www.cubicdesign.com/mustang/ |
