Post Might have to boycott horsepower TV

I am not sure if there was an old episode on today or not but they went and bought a Honda to do a build up on. I couldn't belive it. So for the next weeks previews they where showing how they where going to do mods to it. Yuck. I don't think I can watch anymore. I usally like the show but just don't think i can watch them do a build up on a honda.

that was a repeat from earlier this season. they end up doing exhaust, body kit, nos. a few other things. add up to like 200 hp or something. they usually are good as far as what kinds of cars they do. stick with em, they'll be back to true form soon enough.

i see nothing wrong with them doing a honda buildup. is it a crime to expand your market segment?

Funny how they didn't put a body kit and NOS on that big-block Chevelle daily driver...

I saw the Honda too....but I watched it....it amused me to see a couple 40+ year old men work on something that's usually a favorite of guys my age...

But I agree with PGKelly, it's all about money. They're just trying to expand to different viewers' preferences.......I still didn't like it...

All ricer footage aside, I get the biggest kick out of their expense account. Those guys spend literally thousands of dollars every segment, buying the biggest/baddest of whatever they're doing on anything.
About the most UNREALISTIC show I've ever seen about hot rodding.
It's almost an insult.

The next stupidest show is that trucking show, where they're always building up some 4x4 or slamming a truck. Again, unlimitedfreaking budget.....................

I wish they'd (someone), do up a real show using real prices/real parts/real scenarios.
Too much of this make believe, (yeah, if I won the freaking lottery and won a couple mill), scenarios..................

"Crank and Chrome" (formerly "Shadetree Mechanic") is pretty realistic.

You apparently didn't watch it this weekend.........The older dude, (the once upon a time mechanic), was customizing HIS cycle. The best of everything. (show must pay pretty good). Payf or his parts, pay to have him on tv putting the parts on HIS bike, etc. etc).
New exhaust, new ignition, new tach, all on top of a 30 grand cycle already...............

Show used to be fairly decent. A little fixing, a little customizing.....now they're also in competition for a 'not so real world' awards.................My .002

Don't the magazines do the same thing? Many of these "feature cars" seem like mucho $$$ projects that were mostly "hired done"?

I love how those "mechanics" are so fast at working on the cars.
"now you put in the crank, blah blah blah, now it's ready to go in". I also find it amusing that they're "mechanics" and yet look at their hands. Not a spec of dirt on them OR the vehicles, totally sanitary conditions (just like the real world, huh ) and their dialogue is so scripted it's horrible. You might as well have suzanne sommers hosting the show. it's sort of like having ditsy blonde women commentating racing events for the likes of fox or nascar broadcasts/nascar talk...not that i like nascar all that much(not that a woman couldn't commentate, it's just that it's SO obvious they have no idea what's going on).

Anyways, that's my little rant.

Money is not unrealistic some have it and some dont. I dont think that its unrealistic to show people what performance parts will do when put together right. You may not be able to afford it all at once but little by little you can get there.

You can watch as they do dyno runs with certain parts and then you can know if its a worth while mod before you do it.

Haters,

do you ever notice that they wear all of these nice clothes to work on cars, never drop a socket or screw, and get the project that would take me and my dad weekend done in 15 minutes. i think that the show should turn things over to the real mechanics that actually get down and dirty with their cars and not to some showman who can show you what an expert showed him.
