Default Convertible

I have a convertible mustang and the top goes down fine but doesn't seem to sit down as far as it should. It also has trouble coming up on its own. I would greatly appreciate any solutions to the problems.

what year car do you have?

if it is an 88-93, you might put it 1/2 way down and pull out the top (vinyl) where it folds down. this will make the top lay down for the most part.

if it has trouble coming up, then it sounds like your top motor might need more fluid or it might need replacing...

i havent had a problem with the cobra. it works perfectly.

I had some problems with my '94, where the top wouldn't come out all the way. You would have to tug on it to latch it closed. I ended up just replacing the entire thing because it was grinding. Then it got offtrack and was ripping on both sides where it would bend down. I know they can sand it so it will go up and down smoother, or you may need a new motor. If you can find an auto tops place, they generally will give you an estimate.

I agree with Ty'97Cobra, it probably needs some fluid. It is also slower and tighter in cold weather.
