New personal best E.T. ...more to come!
The air is just phenomenal this time of year! Went to Cordova for some Friday fun night trophy racing and came home with a new best E.T. (would've been nice to get the trophy, but I ruined that chance by 'catching the red eye' in the third round)
I'm going to get some new slicks for my next time out (Oct. 20) since the Eagles are no longer hooking... ran a 6.51 @ 107.34 -- 10.18 @ 128.37 w/ an off-pace 1.492 60ft. When I spin off the line it screws up the run because the shift light comes on about 30ft. before the finish line (that's why the MPH is off because I lifted)... otherwise, it comes on just as I cross. Soooo, I figure with similar air and some new sticky Mickey's I should be able to drop over into the high 1.3's and run some real low 10's. I would love to put another 50hp worth of spray to it, but would hate to split my block in half.... 9's are coming next spring!!!! I have a few irons in the fire as we speak. I'm gettin' there, slowly but surely... I'll be callin' out Eric and Kevin before too long ...rrrrrrright L8R! ...and don't forget to have fun! BTW, since everyone on this board seems to be obsessed with RICERS, I figured I'd mention that my buddy's friends with various imports that claim to be 'fast' backed-out on joining me at the drag strip AGAIN!!! ...I give up on those jerk-offs ...professional import bench racers association should be the name of their *******' car club! |

Killer times man! Awesome 60' ! What parts do you have on the car and how much are you squeezing?
I hate to say it, but a 1.39 60' seems like asking a lot out of a 10sec car, but more luck to ya to do it!! Skyler

ultraflo,
You are my hero, man..., ....you are running times I can only right now look forward to running. All I ask for is mid to high tens... that's all I want.. Just wondering, what kinda reactions times do you average? I've been practicing way more at the track then I usually do (better get my practice in with the 13 sec car if I figure on running a 10 sec car in the future) and have been getting an avg of 0.46x - .50x. Used to avg .7xx - .8xx.

Thank you guys!
Sky, the NMRA R/S guys are cutting high 1.3's and running in the mid to low 10's... and my best 60ft. to date is a 1.401 on 28x10 Goodyears. From what I'm told, the sticky Mickey's hook alot better than the Eagles... and I'll have a new set of 28x10.5 ET Drags on Wed. to try-out next weekend.
HERE is my combo, btw... and I'm currently putting 200hp worth of spray to it in a single stage, single nozzle kit from NX. Fox, my reaction times are not consistent... Last night, round one - .541 and a win. Round 2, bye run - .606 and round three caught a .326 red light. I could use some practice, eh? I'm usually in the .5xx range here lately, with a few screw-ups now and then... I might get a practice tree to play with this winter. My best reaction time this year is a .503 and, next, a .504 light... looking through my timeslips I find a wide range of r/t's from as terrible as 1.3xx to .2xx Practice, practice, practice!!! |

Thanks for the kind words Eric... a 9.99 would be a nice way to end the year, just as long as the motor stays together.
As much as I'd love a 9 sec. timeslip this year, I've rationalized that a 10.0x would suffice for the time being. ...we'll see! L8R! |

Way to go on the times man, feels gooed doesn't it?? I to had a great weekend. I improved on my 9.31 to a 9.17 at 147 mph. I'm wanting to hit the 8's before I put nitrous to it. That's my goal. Quote:

Are you going to Cordova this Friday night? We are. Maybe we'll see you. We're gonna try the SQ on my friends R/S car.
You mentioned the shift light coming on before the end of the track. I thought that was pretty normal. General rule of thumb is to run through the traps 200 rpm higher than the shift point. Andy

Thanks Eric, Flea, Bradley, Kevin (congrats on the killer ALL MOTOR e.t.), Andy.... I'm trailering my buddy J.J.'s 93 Cobra up to Cordova on Friday night to do some testing with his new NitrousWorks plate system. We're hoping to get some mid-high 11's out of it. We will have both of our cars up there on Sunday... you should go then also ...weather permitting, of course. You know the truck/trailer from FFW, Andy, flag me down so we can BS. I'll either be on a 700 Polaris w/ chrome wheels or standing next to a Red '93 Cobra with Weld Pro-Stars. Hope to see you there

I did it again (new best)
Well, things are starting to get interesting... I went to the Sat. Fun Day at Cordova to try out the new M/T ET Drags and see how they compare to the old Goodyears I had been running since the start of the season... WOW!!! I can't believe the difference in HOOK! with the M/T's over the Goodyear's
I only made two passes... the first pass I ripped a new best of 10.037 @ 132.28 w/ a 1.410 60ft. and a 6.384 @ 107.67 1/8 mi. ET THEN ...I figured I'd bring it out a little harder on the next pass and, whoa!, next thing I know all I can see is my cowling and hood rather than the end of the track!!! I almost stood 'er on the bumper... lifted and stabbed the throttle again, grabbed second and it came back up again, came down and unloaded the tires, shifted third and then the car got outta shape... so I coasted to an 11.765 @ 90.67 I dented one of the header tubes, scraped the bottom of the bellhousing, and scraped the bottom of the front-end... got lucky! Anyhow, I'm going to try it again tomorrow... after making some adjustments to the strut/shock settings to keep the front end down some Never thought my 10 sec ride would be a bumper dragger... What a rush!!! LOL |

Didn't see the 9...
...but I finally managed to get some much better 60ft. times, with a 1.342 being my best on a 10.059 @ 133.02 pass. The best pass today was a 10.040 @ 131.32 w/ a 1.362 60ft.
We got the front end to stay down some, but on the first two passes it hung-em real high in first and second... not a good thing, IMHO, but it really grabs both the driver's and the spectators attention... I'd hate to have to put wheelie bars on it... so I was working on the suspension settings for the QA1 adj. shocks and struts to see what could be done about the wheelie problem... I ended up maxing-out the front strut setting (12) and had the rear shocks set to 7, 14 psi in the tires (that would NOT work in the Goodyear slicks I was running) and still hooking! I still cannot believe the difference between Goodyear Eagle 28x10's and M/T ET Drag 28x10.5's (both measure 10" tread, but the M/T's have a wider sidewall, and it's stiffer than the Eagles) ...people told me how much better the stickey Mickey's are and now I can attest to that! I didn't plan on having to start from scratch on the suspension settings just from swapping over to M/T's I still didn't get any pictures of the wheelstand, but have it one video... I'm going to see about having a picture made from a frame in the VHS tape (PITA) to put on my homepage. I'm going to start tearing everything down and get the ball rolling on the R-block 306 combo and see about setting up a second stage so I don't have to launch on a 200 shot... I'll have a well seasoned .030 over stock block with ARP head studs, main studs, SVO girdle, deburred, clearanced for 5.400 rods, and some other tricks done to it for sale soon Until next year... ...looks like I'll be doing some serious bench racing for the next several months, LOL!
