This should be interesting!
I pulled the NOS out of my car and I am selling it to my friend who is putting it on his sn95. I can't wait to race him when he gets it installed so I can whip his a$$ with him spraying.
I really hope this does not backfire on me, I would never live this down. I will get another NOS setup soon but I need one for a carburetor, as most of you already know I just converted from efi to carburetor. ------------------ James Cox nochevy@hotmail.com 1991 Mustang LX Best 1/8 time on motor 7.686 @90.20mph |

What kind of a setup do you and he have? Whast your time convert to in 1/4mi, and how much spray is it?

I'm curious Five0, why did you convert to carburetor? Adv/disadv?

Well there are a couple of reasons for converting.
One is that everyone told me that you would usually pick up about 2 to 3 tenths in the 1/4-mile with a carburetor. Two is there is no chips to have programmed and no computer to tell you what you can or cannot do. Three is it is just less expensive. We just got the car running again and I can tell a big difference already. Before, the car used to buck at low rpm's and was not fun to drive and now it is smooth. It also pulls a lot harder at higher rpm's, I used to have to shift at 6200 rpm's because the factory rev limiter cuts out at 6250 and it did not really pull that hard past 6000 anyway. I have set the rev limiter on the msd at 6700 rpm's with the carburetor and it pulls hard, I have bounced it off the rev limiter twice. I am liking this so far! BTW: 7.686 @90.20 should be a 11.98 @113.?? In the 1/4 mile.(off the nos) I think my friend has ran a best of 9.01 @ 80mph in the 1/8 mile, and the nos is a 150 shot but we are stepping it down to a 75 shot for him. ------------------ James Cox nochevy@hotmail.com 1991 Mustang LX Best 1/8 time on motor 7.686 @90.20mph |

Five0, those are the same reasons that I went with carburetion in the beginning, and it was worth it. But now I'm debating on switching to FI and installing supercharger. Want to go with blower instead of nitrous and if I do, it'll have to be on a FI motor (with all the computer hardware, etc).
(that's basically why I asked you why you made the switch) ------------------------------- '79 Mustang Coup 4" Cowl Weld wheels (15x6;15x8) Stock 5.8L C4 w/ shift kit 1.5" MAC full length headers Holley 750 CFM Edelbrock intake 2.5" Off road H-pipe 8.8" Rear end w/ 2.73:1 gears (sucks!) I talked to a friend of mine and he said you can run a supercharger with a carburetor but should not go over 10lbs of boost. You can also run a roots type and go as high as you want with the boost.

Yeah ATI and Paxton already make carb setups for blowers, and I think Vortech is jumping on the boat too. Typically EFI is better for tuning with a blower though, it adjusts better for the situation (temperature/humidity, etc.).
