Smile 93 LX convert worth?

How much do you think a 93 LX, automatic, convertable with 87K?
It is all stock, but the top needs to be replaced and a stereo. I haven't seen it yet, but the girl says it's in good shape other than the top and stereo. She wants 2K for it, because she needs the money, and that sounded pretty good to me. I will probably try and take it for a drive tomorrow and look it over. But just curious what others here think.

Um... the GIRL is in good shape? It must be late.....

2k doesn't sound bad, if you like convertibles. I personally would never own one, but others can't live without 'em. Convertibles are HEAVY and an automatic is just going to make it slower, so I wouldn't expect it to get up and go as quick. However, if the body is good and the car is nice, it might be worth it after all.

Talking

Do a compression check or at least check the tailpipe for oil residue. If it passes and the body is straight & rust free, I'd jump on it.

I went to see it today and drive it. I chose not to get it. Body had rust in places, top shreaded (knew that), inside door panels coming off with arm rests coming off too, Cluster kind of broken up, all kinds of wires hanging down under driver side dash, shifted terrible (wouldn't go into OD unless I let off the gas) would hardly idle, and there was a bad hissing sound in the engine bay and I thought it was a vacuum leak (not sure what they sound like if they even make a sound, but that was my educated guess since it was hardly idling), oil black...... etc.
It would be a good fixer upper for someone, but not me and I didn't want to pay 2K.

Al, I live in Silverdale, by Bremerton. Nice place to live, not in the crowded Seattle area, but easy to get there by ferries.
