Default Had a BAD Nitrous Backfire last night at the track!!!

I can't believe it...first time it's ever happened to my car. I don't know what really happened...it happened so fast that it caught me off guard. I just had got done doing my burnout and i purge the nitrous as usual. Well I start to stage the car and then when the lights come down I Launched it off the transbrake and it took off fine then about at the 60 ft mark I hear a big KaBoommmmm!! And i saw alot of flames and stuff. The impact of it threw me back in my seat..so i let off the throttle and hit the kill switch for the motor. When I did that a second explosion nearly about knocked me out...this time it blew the hood completely off the car. So i knew that if i didn't get out of it soon it could hit some raw fuel and blow me to smitherines. So I unhooked my harnesses and everything opened the door and rolled out of it and the track crew came over and put it out. But it burned the front end of the car up pretty bad..have to get a new one..blew my intake just about completely off..and a couple other things. I am so PISSED right now...I called Billy this morning and he said to send the motor back up there. He suggested that I try a sheetmetal intake with two carbs plus the Fogger plates like he's running this year. He said it would be cheaper so That's what i'm gonna do. I can't believe this happened!!!!

Eric

Least you weren't hurt. I watched that happen a few years ago at the track. I was in the pit and next thing I see is a hood flying it was pretty freaky. Least its fixable and you can use that money you made off racing that idiot to fix the car

Wow! Hey man, not trying to sound cheesy, but she's right on the money; at least you're okay! What a lousy way to start the summer though! Hang in there, and by 7/4, you'll be tearing money from other peoples wallets again!

Take care,
-Chris

P.S. You know, I actually wish more nitrous rookies heard stories like this. Especially those considering a wet system for their first! Bad things even happen to those with experience! Good luck!!

Thanks PKRWUD, yeah i'm gonna send the motor back this week and let him rebuild it for me. I just hate that, that had to happen so early in the season. Now I gotta find me a new fiberglass front end...

Damn man that sucks.

You really jumped out of the car? Hehe, I know it's not funny, but I just got this mental picture of some really fat guy I know from my local track bailing out of his car. Ow *bounce* MOTHER ****ER, OH!!, SON OF A.....*THUD*...OH ****, *KATHUD*

Wow, no good. Hope it's all back together and running quick. Hey, at least you can be REALLY glad it didn't happen while you were at the track with supercharged Cobra boy.

Good luck!
