It sounds like you are burning oil, time for a engine job, that is if you have blue smoke all the time

I've seen a ton of new rebuilt engines burn oil. For many reasons.

1. Honning (spelled wrong) the cylinder bore improperly. You should see what happens when people dont hone the cylinder at all. Geesh.

2. The person might not of staggered the gaps on the piston rings. ie. put each ring gap 180 degrees from one another.

3. Some people reuse old Valve stem seals to save money, and they leak/crack shortly after.

There are several other things it might possibly be, but those are the most common ones I see.

I've seen some major goof ups to. Some one i know used standard bearings when they had the crank on a 4 cyl pontiac engine turned 20 thousandths. I've seen people forget to put the little star retainer (I know thats not the proper term) on the oil pump shaft, and that can cause some BIG problems. And so on and so on.

Yeah describe when it smokes. If it smokes on startup or when you rev it a bit after extended idling it could be valve seals (had that on my old car). If it's blue when you're on the gas and generally all the time it's probably ring or cylinder related...

Good..That synthetic oil on a fresh motor is sometimes not good. The oil wont seat the bearing well and will burn bad..If your car is only on 5k after rebuild and is smoking..U got something wrong..
