Default What's wrong with me. More motor swap questions

What's wrong with me? Why do I have this urge to go insainly fast

Well I'm thinking about taking my graduation money, buying a smashed up 87-95 5.0 or a Thunder Bird turbo coupe, and swaping the parts onto my car.

What are your opinons? Pros? Cons?

go for it!
I spent my graduation money on my car a few years ago and it was well worth it.

One thing though that I'm sure you already know. When you obtain a motor, make sure you tear it down and have everything inspected. New bearings, bolts, rings.....

The guy that I sold my AOD to did the 4cyl swap with a 5.0 motor that he got for like $200 bucks. he thought it was in good shape so he just carb'd it and slapped it in there. As soon as he fired it up it shot a few gallons of coolant out the tail pipes. Also, he's recently found out that a rod is knocking pretty bad.

Just thought I'd try to save you some headaches, but I'm sure you're not THAT dumb

good luck with it man,
-Drew

I gonna try to find one with around 70-90K on it. Tear it down and install ARP rod/crank bolts, new bearings, and maybe new rings. I could rebuild it(I get EngineTech rebuild kits for free), but I don't wanna have to pay to get it bored and the machine work. I'll prob. rebuild it a few years down the road.

I really want a smashed up 94-95 GT, so I could pirate the spindels and rear end out of it, but a 87-93 5.0 or a Turbo Coupe would do just as well.
