What's with this guy?
What's this world come to? Yesterday I'm coming back from the movies in this really rich part of town and I pass -- I sh!t you not -- a Ferrari F40. A whole slew of four letter words came out of my mouth as I pulled a U turn to catch up. I figure this is the only time in my life I'll ever see one up close and I wanna get a good burnout out of this guy. So I catch up and pull even and start reving my engine. Now...I have enough sense to know that I won't even hang with this guy for 2 seconds but this is a $500,000 car and one of the fastest in the world so I figure he'll light 'em up. He looks at my car, then me, light turns green, I let it rip and smoke my tires thinking he'll follow suit. Know what he did? NOTHING! Not a gawd damn thing! Damn near 700hp and nothing. What happened to people with fast cars knowin how to drive them?

One of the cruising strips here is right next to Palm Beach Island, and you can NEVER get these people to do anything with their cars!! I've raced one Lamborghini and a few ferraris, but 90% won't even look your way... If only I had one... it'd probably be broken down!! unable to afford the mechanic bill!!

Maybe it was a kit car and if he took off too fast the body would fly up revealing the VW underneath

Hehe we all know 99% of these guys buy these cars as a status symbol. Guys that want fast cars usually enjoy bulding their car up. Hell we would all buy F40's if we had $500,000, but some of us enjoy throwing a blown 351 Windsor motor into a Fox and seeing what it can do. I don't know about you guys but if I had $500,000, I'd buy a 70 Chevelle, build it up, a 67 Shelby, build it up... etc. If I wanted to have a car for status, I'd save my money and buy a Viper. Most of us , I think, enjoy building a car up and seeing how far it can be pushed it before it blows it up.
That guy shouldn't be driving that car if he's afraid to let it breath, if you ask me ------------------ 87 GT Full exhaust, K&N, KB Subs, BBK STB, homeade dumps... 87 Taurus New York Winters Bite! |

I totally agree. Why blow $500,000 on 1 car. Sure, it does 0-60 in like 1 second, but it's still just a F!CKING CAR. You know what kinda house I could buy for $500K?

Most of these exotic $$$ cars develope horse power only at high RPM with their relatively small displacements and have relatively low torque. To get a decent launch, These guys would have to stage at 4000-5000 and then modulate the clutch correctly. To make it short, they don't know how and wouldn't do it even if they did. Dumping the clutch at 4000-5000 to these people would amount to abuse of their "perfect" cars. Lets face it, most are wealthy wimps that like the cars for what they "could do". Not what these pussies are willing to do. Whew. Now was that a rant or what?

Just a thought . . . Maybe he's tired of every kid in a mustang/camaro/riced out piece of junk reving their engine and trying to race him.

I considered that. But you better get used to it if you're gonna be driving a car like that on the street. And is it really "trying to race" someone if you have no intention at all of wining?

Another thought. Maybe he's just a wealthy person who can't drive and would be afraid to even if he could, no matter how fast his car might be?

I have had the same thing happen to me quite a few times
The one time it worked, it was a Viper and he spanked me like I was standing still He was really cool, I said "Can't you do better then that?" He replied, "sure if you want to buy new tires for me" HAHAHA. Anyway, I must admit that when every piece of import **** pulls up beside and starts reving and then floors it I do nothing. Sounds like this guy was just tired of people trying to prove something. If it was me in that situation, I would not of tried to make him burnout, I would have chatted him up first in a parking lot. I find that the more you talk to them, the more they want to show off the ride Ian ------------------ Ian Sim webmaster@stangpower.com STORED: 1988 Mustang GT "Canadian Cobra", stock, AOD, loaded AWESOME PRICES ON MAC PARTS GO TO MY SITE Visit my site: http://www.stangpower.com |

Maybe he was afraid that you knew how to get your car to work better than his and he did't want to get embarrased. He did't know what was done to your car, for all he knew you could have had a 300hp NOS fogger system under your hood with some outragous size big block bored and stroked. Like they say..."You never know!"
So he just saved face and didn't risk his $500,000 car getting it's *** kicked!! That's just one way to look at it. That's what I would want to think if that happened to me. After all...Any car CAN be beat on ANY given day.
