Octane booster has been around for a while. I can't see how it would give your car any more power, in fact, it may steal some. It would depend on how far your timing is advanced whether or not you could actually gain from the stuff. There is always a limit to timing as well.

silverv6- you can get more power from octane boosters but not directly. Octane level is a measure of gasolines resistance to detonation. Basically, the higher the octane the harder it will be to ignite. Thus, it will burn slower. This allows you to raise the timing without causing detonation. Raising the timing will give a little bit more power.

Here's a question. If your engine is in otherwise good condition, what sort of harm do you cause by running 15-16* of timing with 100-octane gas?

It is all about detonation. As long as you don't have detonation then you are ok. Stock foxes run about 10 degrees. with good gas most people would say you can get 12-14 degrees. Get a timing light. Advance your timing. when you start to get detonation back it down 1 or 2 degrees. If you plan on racing or going to the track dump in some octane booster, take out your timing light and see what you can get. Its one of those tricks to do on race day like let a little air out of the back tires. It won't give alot but sometimes every little bit helps.
