Help - Matching Paint Color
Help. I just got my 1983 Mustang GT Convertable painted back to original color ("bright red"). The only problem is that I feel the new paint color has more orange in it than it should. I called my local Ford shop and they said the paint code has been discontinued and they can't provide me with any samples. What can I do to get an exact sample to compare? Thanks - Joel

Go to your local automotive paint supply store and ask to see their color books. What they'll hand you is a binder full of color swatches of paint. Just look up Ford paints for '83 and you should find exactly what you're looking for. Look in your door jamb and write down the original paint code and take that number to the paint store as well. The personnel at the store should be able to match the paint up perfectly for that year.
