Default Quiz time!

I haven't done this in a while, and I figured that it was about time. So here goes:

What were the only colors available for the '93 Cobra?

What were the engine differences between the 93 GT and 93 Cobra?

In what year was the first big block shoe horned into a Mustang? What was the designation of that car? (ie, Cobra Jet, Mach 1, Boss 429, etc)

What year saw the last 351 powered Saleen Mustang?

What does SVE and SVO stand for?

Who is in charge of SVT vehicles?

What is the "magic number" for setting the base timing on a mostly stock 5.0?

OK that's enough for now, I'll give it a few days and I'll post answers to the one's no one got. That is if anyone plays my little game thingie.

Later.

1. Red and black.

2. The MAF sensor was bigger on the Cobra, accompanied by a different computer. The cam had 0.480" lift. GT40 heads, and Cobra intake manifold. The exhaust manifolds bolts had different torque specifications, so I would assume they'd be an upgraded header. The free length of the exhaust valve springs are shorter than a standard 5.0L HO.

3. From what I remember, as long as you're talking FoMoCo-produced Mustangs, it was the 390FE-powered 1967 GT(A) Mustang, which was a Thunderbird big block, sporting 320HP.

4. 1995.

5. Special Vehicle Engineering and Special Vehicle Team.

6. Dan Davis is the director of Ford Racing Technology....and yes, I want his job. Look out, Dan!

7. 14 degrees BTDC, give or take given ambient conditions and octane rating. I'm assuming that's what you're asking here, right? Oh, and that's if you're talking about 87-93 HO's and you remember to remove the spOUT connector.

I think I confused the rr I bought for my car with what the 93 cobra had.. I think the cobra came with 1.72 rollers to help out the mild cam it had. The maf was a 70mm I know that. Red, black and teal(I remember there being a green one) sounds right but I want to say I've seen a white one but I'm probably just thinking about the white GT Joe has.

Pencils down! Here are your answers!

Quote:

There were 4 colors available in 1993. They were Vibrant Red Clearcoat, Ebony, Teal(which was more blue than anything), and Performance Red for the '93 R.

Quote:
What were the engine differences between the 93 GT and 93 Cobra?
Let's start at the Induction and work our way through the engine. The MAS was the 70mm version, calibrated for 24# injectors, the throttle body was a stock GT 60mm unit, however there was not an EGR spacer since the Intake manifold incorperated it. The Intake manifold was based on the popular GT-40 unit, but with special decals on top. The heads were GT-40P heads with larger 1.84in and 1.54ex valves, which were actuated by 1.7 Crane roller rockers, and a(ready for this?) production 5.0L Thunderbird camshaft. And there you have it, heads, cam, and intake.

1967 GTA (which stood for Grand Touring American<if i'm not mistaken>) And for bonus points Capri306 even nailed the cid and the fact that it was an FE.

Quote:

2000 with the SR model. That was kinda tricky on my part, but it is still a Mustang based Saleen.

Quote:

Special Vehicle Engineering and Special Vehicle Operations

Quote:

Tom Scarpello, what you didn't know that? Shame on you!!

Quote:

14* Set the timing AFTER you pull the spout!

Good job guys. I'll get to work on another one. I gotta rack my brain a bit and see what I can come up with. By the way this stuff is ALL I ever think about. Isn't it great to be me? Stop laughing!

Later!

I think the GT actually stood for Grand Tourismo which is probably just Italian for Grand Touring.

Actually what you are thinking about it the GTO. All Mustang GT's were Concidered Grand Touring. What the difference is, I don't know, but that's how they are listed. Grand Turismo O.....(can't remember the O part) was used to describe Ferrari's and only one Pontiac. Needless to say the Pontiac GTO was seriously out classed and didn't deserve the badge GTO. While it's still a nice car, and I'd almost own one, a GTO it is not.

Default First Big Block

I recollect hearing that GTA stands for GT/automatic. The 390 was used in the Thunderbird, and the shock towers were moved to add more side to side room for the engine. With a 4 barrel it was rated at 320hp, but it actually came out in the GT not GTA.
Thanks

and i just realized the quiz is over! LOL

The heads on the 93 cobra were NOT gt40p. the cobra had iron gt40 heads but they are different than the gt40ps which came on explorers.

Ive never heard that the 93 cobra had 2 different shades of red, ive always heard it only had 3 colors.

You forget about the 93 R model. It was concidered, or listed, rather, as performance red. Where as the 93 regualr production Cobra was listed as Vibrant Red. Again, the difference is in the eye of the beholder. They look almost the same to me, but almost only counts in horeshoes and handgrenades. Later.

Oh, and GT/A was not for automatic, as you could get it with the 4 speed top loader. Later.
