Default How messed up is this?

I decided to come back home from college for the weekend because...let's face it...there isn't much to do in Pittsburg, KS. The drive home is about 2 hours along I-69 (the entire trip is almost all 2 lanes). I came up on a Mazda 626 doing about 65mph (the limit) and I usually cruise at about 75mph. So I followed him about a car length and a half then looking for a chance to pass him. Now 69 hwy is pretty dangerous...a lot of wrecks and whatnot so it's always good to be careful there. I finally saw a chance to pass where I saw a car about 3/4 of a mile away in the opposite lane (keep in mind I was driving my '01 Slownoma). So I flip on my blinker and proceed to try and pass the guy. Apparently he took offense to that and began to speed up. I figured ok...no big deal...so I start to break. Problem...so did he...the whole time giving me the finger. By this point the car is too close for comfort so I slammed on the brakes and swerved back over into my lane before he could brake but, with the oh-so-reliable GM engineering I spun out off the shoulder and into the grass. So did the guy coming the other way since he swerved to miss me. He got out and started cursing and yelling until I explained what happened and then he started swearing and cursing about the other guy. Good thing I got his license plate number and had my cell phone . I saw him about 1/2 and hour later on the side of the road with a state trooper behind him. I mean...seriously...he could have killed me and the other driver and why...cuz he didn't want to get passed? I ask you...WTF?

Some people are just jagoffs like that.

It goes to show, you can be the safest and smartest driver but you still can't control what someone else does.

Does it count as waving if you only use one finger?

Angry

*shaking head in anger and amazement*

Man, glad you are okay and didn't wreck your vehicle.

Moreover, I am utterly overjoyed in the fact that you had your cell phone with you, recorded the guy's license plate, and reported him AND that you saw the outcome of it!! GOOOOOD! I would've hated to hear that you and the other driver spun off the road and the idiot got away free. Aaaaaaaahhhhhhhh!

The sad thing is...this is sort of thing is common on 69 hwy. About a month ago while returning home I came up about 1/2-3/4 of a mile behind a guy on a crotch rocket trailing some other car pretty closely. They were about to crest a hill on a double yellow line and the guy just couldn't wait anymore apparently and decided to swerve into the opposite lane and gun it to pass. Well...about that time a black Ranger came over the hill and nailed him head on. The guy went off the bike and through the windshield of the Ranger, causing him to lose control and roll a few times down an embankment. I stopped immediately as did 2 other guys coming the other way who saw it, but whoever was in the car ahead of the bike just kept going. To add to my pissed-offedness was the fact that, despite standing IN THE MIDDLE OF A F@*KING HIGHWAY, I couldn't get anyone to stop for about 5 minutes (in which time at least 20 cars past). This is why I always carry my cell phone now. I know the guy on the bike was DOA and I'm almost positive the guy in the truck died. And all because this moron wanted to pass a car. I don't feel at all bad for him...I feel bad for the guy in the truck who crested the wrong hill at the wrong time. The highway just needs to be 4 lanes.

Thats why I dont own a gun. If I did own a gun, it would be a really high caliber, and mounted to my car in such a fashion that I would have a 360 degree sweep. Just for such situations.

Serouisly though, People dont seem to understand that the vehicle they are driving carries so much force. They are deadly weapons, and driving is no game.

People get killed because of such crap, and he deserves alot more than he probably got. Considering the damage he could of done to other peoples lives, he probably got off scott free.

What you need are High VIsible Visual Quees that will tip people off that your not one to screw around with..

Like get a roll bar mounted, Bright Red 5 point harness, a Crash helmet, and one hell of a crazed expression on your face. A bumper sticker like "Have you been pushed off the road by a Ford Lately" would help.

Dont think they'd much mess with you.

It also helps having a front bumper that would make the A TEAM proud. Oh, and cant forget Blasting Wagner's Ride of the Valkries.

Exclamation Road Rage

84_GT350:

Ah, road rage strikes again, only at least this time the perp got caught. I don't understand these little twerps that actually get angry because somebody passes them on a highway. Idiots. Unfortunately, there is a lot of mis-directed anger out there these days and for some folks their anonymous status behind the wheel of a car is a trigger for releasing all their pent-up nastiness on other drivers, which sometimes leads to an accident and even death....which is why we have laws against 'aggressive driving' and/or Road Rage.

Glad you survived the incident unscathed - and that the Mazda driver at least was pulled over. Better than nothing. Be careful out there.

I gotta agree, people get freaky when behind the wheel. I guess its the fact that one of the few places in modern society that general human interaction skills can be eliminated, and you can let the id run wild. (the other situation is phone work, people will say things on the phone to you that they wouldnt do in person in a million years. )
I always wanted to follow a queue jumper to his/her final destination, and wait till they get in line for something (burger, etc) and then just walk up and step in front of them.
Sort of an object lesson in being a thinking, considerate human.

Cell phones are great rage stoppers I get angry at the stupid things that people do... a few times I have pulled out the cell and did a quick *FHP (Florida Highway Patrol) to report some moron instead of loosing MY cool. It makes me feel much better.

On one occasion that I saw the guy pulled over, out of the car, amrs out walking the line... of course I honked as I went by to ruin in concentration.

This may kinda sound bad, but I have now started to use my size on ppl who try to do things like to me. U would be amazied how someone tries to cut u off, but how fast they back off when u don't move. I love my bronco!

But there are still the few who think size doesn't matter. Like today, A guy in a little Ford Escort changed lanes right in front of me in a space just barly big enough for him, while I was going at least 10 MPH faster then him. Ever seen 33" Super Swampers locked up going 60?

Just withen the lest month, I've gotten attitude with, "Hell I have full coverage" As long as it's not going to be my fault, I'm good. Come try it guy(girl).

Latly it has mostly beem females who arn't paying attention to driven who are pissing me off.

Because WE start all of the wars.....................and can pee standing up.

Glad to hear that you are safe and not in the ground somewhere!

Reminds me of several stories. The best of which is when an off duty cop physicaly forced my dad and his carpool friend off the road and into a ditch. Did a couple of thousand of dollars worth of damage to the van. And big blue took care of it self when the officer called to the scene issued both driveras tickets for inproper driving. This guy should have bee arrested for what he did. Side swiped my pop TWICE! Son of a bytch!
