1993 mercury sable. NEED HELP BADLY!!!
guys, i needs gobs of help. hopefully some of you own late 80's or early 90's taurus's or sables. I have a 93 merc sable 3.8. head gaskets went. mechanic down the street was doing the job (i have no time). long story short, he tears it all down, and then realizes the job is too much for him. (some mechanic). anywho, i decided to rebuild the engine, and now it is back in. but, being that he dismantled the entire thing, i have no clue how anything goes back together (accessory brackets, throttle linkages)i mean i have the general idea from the haynes book, but they don't go into the detail that i need to get this done. I literally have a trunk full of parts and a box of bolts. Someone please please please send me digital pictures of everything? i have been to several salvage yards in the area but no one seems to have one intact. they are all already ripped apart. please someone help!!!

You might want to consider a factory repair manual, they go into much more detail (but cost a little more $$).

Try to find a factory repair CD rom on ebay. I got one for ELisa's 1994 from Ford for less than $20. It gave me detailed PDF files and diagrams that you can zoom in on complete with part numbers and everything! It might be worth looking into. Then you can simply print out the diagrams you need, blow them up, or order parts using the factory part numbers.....

Am I reading this right? OMFG
I cannot believe this,
this mechanic tears your motor all apart only to realize that he's gotten over his head is one thing, but the least he could have done is put everything back together til you could take this vehicle to a "real" mechanic that could fix the blown headgasket.. FWIW, the 3.8 is known for blowing headgaskets,so when you do get this fixed,my advise is to sell this car before the headgaskets say good-bye again. |

i don't plan on selling the car anytime soon. i have had many friends that had 3.8's without ever having a problem. The motor is now rebuilt, and having sunk this far i have to get it back together...
