MoDOT, in all it's wonderful glory.
Does anybody else in here live in Missouri? If so, have you noticed how MoDOT is? My mom is currently raising hell with them (go get'em mom!). There is a stretch of U.S. 67 highway that is where her office is located and it's very dangerous. There are several "dips", low spots where if a car was, you wouldn't be able to see it. (I should know this, I had a wreck last year with the same situation.) Well, my mom is asking MoDOT to put up some signs saying that the road is dangerous and she wants the speed limit reduced. MoDOT has said that they plan to do a 5 week study to see what the effects of that would be. I say they're full of crap myself. Earlier this year they raised the speed limit from 55 to 60, making this stretch even more dangerous. We've also had to fatal wrecks too. It would seem to me that MoDOT doesn't care about the situation. They're more concerned about taking the tax payer's money and putting it in they're pockets. They spend it every year on worthless projects that nobody could care about.
I've got a couple of articles that the local newspaper made about the meetings my mom's had and what other people on the stretch had to say. I'll try to scan them and post them in the next few days. Thanks for listening to me. I guess I'm just pissed about this because MoDOT thinks they're bigger than others and can do whatever they want. Dan. |

I know what you mean to a certain extent. I live in MO also and actually did seem some changes around my area after MoDot did one of their studies, so maybe they are not feeding your mom crap on that one.
On the other hand, it seems as if every project they take on is poorly planned, takes way too long, and in many instances is not even necessary. Good luck with your fight against them.....I will root for ya!!

Well thanks for the words. It's just that MoDOT plain sucks as far as I'm concerned. They just don't seem to care about the whole situation.

I live here in MO too. I have a friend whose dad works for MoDOT. Let me tell you about some of the crap they do. You wanna know where all that money goes to? Hotels, fancy meals, and so on. His dad lives in Fulton and the rest of his crew lives in the surrounding areas. When there is work in that area they don't do it. MoDOT sends them all expenses paid to work up by KC or St.Louis or even down south to the boot heel. MoDOT then sends guys from KC or where ever to do the work in Fulton area where the other crew is from. They also repave roads that were only paved 2-3 years prior, ignoring the roads that need to be fixed because it's just too much work to repave the roads that need it.

Yeah, I know. Where I'm at the roads are crappy. They either need to be widened or repaved. But on one seems to be in a hurry to do it.
