Default So mad at my MOM!!

My dad called me today at work and told me to come look at a truck that he wants to buy. So I get there to the car lot and their is a BEAUTIFUL 99 F350 Dually Diesel. Well mom gets out and says no way..are we getting that thing. I said why not mom? It's a beautiful truck..fully loaded and everything. Well mom gets back in the car that they drove over their in and wouldn't even as much look at the truck. My dad's got to have a pickup truck to pull his car with. He has a 67 Chevelle show car/drag car/street. Well I've been hauling it for him for the past couple months. I don't mind at all. And my dad has enough money to buy the truck no problem..he works hard for everything he gets. What's your guys opinions on this?? I say he should get it since he deserves it. My dad is heartbroken that my mom even acted this way about it.

I'd have left her in the car she climbed back into, bought the truck, and drove it home. Period.

Of course, I've never met your Mother, so I wouldn't really care what she thought.

Take care,
-Chris

Here's my opinion. Get the truck anyway. If it's a legitmate need for hauling, which I feel the diesel is best suited for. Anybody ask why she's all negative about the truck?

Doesn't really matter to me. If she didn't have the maturity level to look at the vehicle in order to debate the subject, she doesn't get the opportunity to whine about it later.

Kinda like voting.

Yeah, that's what I can't understand..Now she's mad at me saying that it's all my fault. She said if i wouldn't keep talking about cars all the time then he wouldn't be influenced. WTF??? How is this my fault?? I'm confused.

Dood.....that's kinda messed up of your mom. Did you ask her WHY the heck she was so against it? If they have the money, it should be ok. It's not like she's going to have to drive it or anything. Hmmmm......

Your dad is a grown man and I say if he wants a truck for the legit reason and its his money get it. Let your mom pout about it. She is probably pissed and just scared to drive it.....
Your money your right to spend it the way you want.
P.S. I would tell my dad the same thing

Question 50/50 relationship, 50% she owns, 50% hers....

Radical, what does your driveway consist of? what vehicle(s) does she drive? when was the last time she got a new or newer car if she doesnt already have one? maybe thats what it is, but i wouldnt know, im not there. maybe she was waiting for your old man to buy her a car. need more details, but from what you told me, i say if it is his money, then he should be able to do what he wants.

Srv, my dad has bought my mom anything she's ever wanted..That's why i can't understand why she would do something like this. I think it's because I have a dually 2001 and she doesn't like my truck at all..so maybe that's the reason?? Oh well, I'm gonna help my dad get that truck, because I know that he wants it...That's the least I could do for my dad...god knows he's done enough for me. I wouldn't have my truck or my car if it wasn't for him

Once again the man had been held down by the unruly oppression of women. Just jokin around ladies. Dude, if your dad wants the truck, has the money to pay for the truck, had worked hard to be able to afford this truck, go by it. IF he needs two peoples signiture on the loan you sign it or if he doesnt just tell him to go buy it. WHy is your mother so against him getting this truck. Does she want to use the money for something else. Are there any Home improvements or any thing that needs to be done before a another vehicle is purchased. IF it was something like that, I can understand the disapprovment of the truck But otherwise, tell her to hush.

Brad

Exclamation Truck tantrum

I have a feeling there's something you don't know about going on between your mom and dad.

There seems to be no logical reason for him not to buy the truck so it must be an emotional reason driving her negative attitude.

I can see that all the attention you guys spend on cars and trucks might get old for her after awhile and she probably sees it as a waste of money, 'affordable' or not.

As one of the few married guys commenting on this thread (so far) I can tell you that all the macho 'Your Dad should do as he pleases' attitudes I see here may be amusing and a somewhat natural reaction but they don't work well in real married life.

He has to live with her and long after you're grown and gone, too, so just telling your wife: 'Too bad, I'm getting the truck I want' doesn't really work out in the long run, in my experience.

They obviously need to discuss this and your dad needs to find out what's really wrong here. The truck is probably just a symbol of a deeper resentment your mom may harbor against his involvement with cars and racing. Maybe it's a case of her seeing money wasted (women can be maddenly practical) but whatever, they need to get to the bottom of it before he buys the truck.

Urge them to talk but don't interfere if you can help it.

Good luck.

True there is probably more going on than what you see at 1st glance but the mother getting mad and saying it's all his fault is beyond the limits of good parenting (IMO) regardless of what else is going on. Some women are just controlling, I had one before, never again. My wife wants me to have nice toys because it make me happy, if for any reason she didn't want me to get something she would tell me why flat out not just beat around the bush, pout, and act like a 3yr old. We are also only hearing one side of the story so who knows.
