Question Mustang (i saw it on the interior) question....

I have not been in many Stangs at all but what does SRS mean? I saw it on the dash and steering wheel.. it was a 2000 conv. & the letterinbg was in script.

Another question... which is better and/or best. A conv Stang or a reg Stang w/ or w/o
a sun roof. Are conv still good for raceing
(mainly street) or are full Stangs better?

Cool

SRS is the Safety Restraint System... or airbag. Convertibles are heavier but any Stang can be made fast(er). If you are really wanting to punish it on the streets i'd get a coupe and stiffen everything up. I don't really street race so I like having the option of droppin' the top when the weather is nice. I have no experience with sunroofs on Stangs so I can't help you there.

No lie:

I remember reading MM&FF and someone asked about their "Mustang SRS" b/c they saw SRS on the dash and steering wheel.

BTW, having a sunroof is cool but is said to lower the car's structural integrity. Yeah any stang can be made to be quick, depends on what you like.

I personally would never buy a convertible for such reasons:

1) Heavier
2) Don't care for the sun beaming down on my head and arms slowly roasting me and my interior.
3) Too easy access for thieves to break in your car just by cutting the vinyl top.
4) Gotta worry about roll cages when going to drag strip (some require roll cage if you have a convertible--period. Some if you're running under 13.0 ET)

I would go with an LX coup (my first choice- drag strip applications) or a hatchback (2nd choice--for high speed applications).

Mainly comes down to what you want. Do your research if you are looking to buy.

Thumbs up

I LOVE My convertible,
but...I dont race(my car weighs over 3700 lbs.w/out all the add-ons!!)
I LOVE the sun(you can get a great tan when you go for a few hour road trip.
My leather's allready cracked...so, till I get it fixed, no big deal..
Haven't expierenced the thieving yet. Hopefully never will...which reminds me, my garage is open now, better go close it.
I've seen a Cobra Conv. really beefed up, it has about 500 h.p. But, they are extremely heavy, and FoX Body's right, if you run a certain times you've GOT to have a roll cage, helmet,etc.etc. And its not a necessarily fast time. Wanna think like 13's or something, but I could be wrong. But, that's only at the track, street wouldn't make any difference. Depends on how serious you wanna be about racing, or if you just wanna have a nice cruiser too!
Once you get in a convertible, you'll be hooked. I know I was. You either love 'em or you dont!!!! Drive a couple of different ones around, and see what you think....Topless

WOW!!!!!!!!!!THAT's JUST WEIRD! I'm going to use that as my computer background now (at least until i find a new stang picture to replace it). That is odd....the dots are all white...but look black...until you look at it....and the others turn black while that one turns white. Yikes, trippy stuff man!
