The new 2003 or 2004 platform
What do you all think of Ford giving up the F-body for the DEW98 platform used in incoln LS and Jaguar S-type? Also I heard it was supposed to/is used in the 2002 Thunderbird. I've grown to love the 94-01 look of the mustangs, that look made me fall in love with the mustang. I'm not sure if I can go for a vintage/big look for a newer mustang. But it'll probaly be the size of the T-bird just abit larger for the back seat "(?)" anyway I look forward to the up in HP but I might not wish to wait unitil '03/'04 to get a mustang. Since my orignal plan on getting one fell threw I just might have to wait till then. *sigh* |

From what I've seen in Motor Trend and 5.0 Magazines, the new Mustangs looks dont differ all that much. Nothing like the diffrence between 93 and 94 models.
I think the car will be similar in size to the current models. If the drawings I see in Motor Trend and 5.0 are anything like what the actual car will look like, you have nothing to worry about. It looks like a meaner 99+ Stang. A little Wider, A little Lower, A little Meaner, and a little more rackish. ------------------ 64 1/2 "D" code Red Mustang Coupe. 289, C4, Mallory duel point. Ported & Polished 65 heads shaved .01 with 351 valves, 11:1 comp, 1.7:1 rockers, blue wolverine lumpy cam, modified 4100 Hipo 4 barrel. GT Apperance pkg. And to many others to list 2000 Perf Red Mustang GT. 5spd. BBK Underdrive pulleys, Flotech off-road H pipe. Hurst T-Handle, 40 series Flowmasters, Steeda Tri-Ax. Ordered 4:10's. 64 1/2 red 6cyl coupe. Future resto. |

I agree with Mercury, if they look like the rendering in 5.0 mag I'll have 2. They look lower, meaner, and alot more sleek. I dont like the reverse scoop but that could all change.

they said that ford will stop putting the 3.8V6 (i know you said V8, but it just reminded me of this) in the mustang at all, i think they are playing around with the 4.0L with hp around 225, (same as our 5.0s stock )
and im sure they wont be putting any kind of piss ant motor in the GT or cobra with the fall of the camaro/fireturd i'm hoping they will see a market in making the Cobra a vette contender, hell it's close as it is now (not the Z06) im hoping for a supercharged SOHC GT motor and either a supercharged or a 5.4 cobra R motor for the Cobra, none of which will probably happen though ------------------ 88 Notch, B&M Ripper, 3.73's, Ported E7's, Explorer int. w/ ported lower, pulleys, 1.7RR's, BBK headers, off-road H-pipe, flowmasters, subframes, 65mm TB, March ram air ,MSD coil, U/L control arms, 155lph f/p, Crane Adj.FPR, Nitto drag radials, best 1/4--> 13.76@101.4 on a 2.17 60ft |

Can you Imagine a blown 5.4 in a new stang. Thats make me want to just go change the oil, and shift gears if you know what I mean!!! That would be awesome, but if Ford follows suit it won't happen. I would like to see the Cobra a full out Corvette eater, but retain the "Poor Mans Sports Car" status. It would be great to wax a Corvette with a stock or close to stock Mustang and not be out 45 thousand dollars.

The newest one that came out on Newstands just a few days ago. Has The 2001 Cobra and a Mustang Bullit on the cover.
Oh I'm not to sure of that comparison. Something sounds fishy. |
