I can't see! guitar string to the eye
This hurts really bad!
I was just playing guitar, and as I was tuning the G string back up just a little, it snaps and hits me smack in the left eye. I guess that G string was as tight and worn out as a G string on a 400lb woman. Anyway, I better not drive anymore tonight because I can't see out of that eye and not having peripheral vision really sucks. So word to the wise, be careful when toying around G-strings heh, that winking smilie looks like me right now, except for the smile that is

No joke, OUCH!
A buddy of mine pierced his left ear once when he broke the G string. It popped up and went straight through his earlobe, pretty as you please. I always fear that G string when I'm tuning it up. --nathan

Tune the guitar in the same position you play it. Even if you've just restrung it. Just get them semi tight and then hold the guitar normally when your tightening the strings to tune. That way, all broken strings fly away from the body.....you've just got to worry about your hands. And do it slooooooooowly.
Does suck about your eye though - hope it doesn't get infected.
