Hello all, newbie here. =)
Im 21 and my current car is a 2001 Eclipse GS, its my first NEW car and i made the awful mistake of bringing my moron step-father a.k.a. "King of all things half assed and not finished" along for advice in buying the car, and ended up making the terrible mistake of leasing the car.
Now Im stuck with a nice looking yet under powered and over priced car $340.00/month. To buy this thing will end up costing me $26,000. The dealer I got the car from is also a Ford dealer, and one day while I was waiting for some warranty service to get done, I happend to see a Nice looking 66 stang coupe on the lot Its a red 66 coupe with a 302 V8 and manual tranny, daul exhaust, Posi rear, a/c, pb, ps, 4 speaker AM/FM/CD, gauge package, white leather interior. 99,997 miles for $8995.00 Since I live near a university im sure I can sell/transfer the lease to a student around here somewhere. So what do you guys think...... Dump the Eclipse and get the Pony, or keep the eclipse? |

Welcome! You'll love it here. Make yourself at home too...
IMO: keep the Eclipse as a daily driver (without riceing it out!!!) and drag the stang -OR- Restore the stang to a mint-condition and enter it into car shows. If you are interested in that.... there are several ppl that do that here (Topless in Texas). |

Decisions, decisions
Unload the lease if you can. Why pay big monthy bucks for a car you don't care much about?
The '66 Mustang is a bit high-priced but it may be worth it if it's really mint and well-maintained. Hard to tell. You could get a nice mid-90's Mustang V-8 for about the same price and have a more practical car, but a '66 would be very unique as a daily driver. Tough choice. Let us know what you decide. |

I'd rather buy a mustang from some person because it would probaly be cheeper. But I'd still get a '65 or '66.
Tell us more about this '66 your looking at please.

That car seems a bit expensive unless it is in awesome shape. I am now deciding if I want to sell my car to get a 5.0- tough choice

So I called Mitsu Credit about transfering my lease to another poor soul, and I can do it for free, BUT I would still be liable. That means eventhough the new person signs a new contract and takes over the lease, Im responsible for it if they skip out or something happens.
So I also find out my by-out amount, with all the penalties and fees I come out almost $5k upside down on it. Unless I can magicly pull 5 grand out of my ***, Im stuck, on the upside I have a 1 in 386,000 chance to winn 5k on powerball. Im going to talk to a lawyer to see if there are anyother ways out of this lease. This is truely the most retarted thing I think I have ever done.... LOL. Live and learn right ?? |

The older eclipse cars with turbos and awd were pretty nice. A friend of mine had one and it was pretty quick. I say stick with the eclipse for now and start saving for your next car, bt it's your money.
