Default New z06 Model...Hold On to your Butts!

I was watching AutoWeek Last night when they showed a new corvette Z06 only this one was a new version. A 500 horsepower 5.7L 427. Its called the Guldstrand Signature Edition Corvette. And you can have one for about $45,000 over the base price of a normal Z06. You can only get through authorized corvette dealers. Only 50 will be made. I dont know I think it maybe be worth the money.

All I can say now is, whats Ford plan on doing?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but, isn't a 5.7L a 350?

Why would anyone spend 45k to gain 100 hp? Don't GM folks remember how fast they made the stock Vette faster than the "ulitmate vette" the zr-1?

GM=Generally Moronic

Somehow I don't see the bang for the buck here...
A 500 HP Corvette for:
Z06 Retail Price 50k + another 45k for the package...

That's almost 100 grand! I bought my house for that much...

I'll take my 450 HP GT for a total of 30k.... Thanks anyway...

All I can say is, nothing. They will all get snatched up by collectors and never see the light of day again.

500hp for 100K.........I'll pass.

Default Actually.......

The LS1 in F-Bodies and C5 Corvettes and the LS6 in the ZO6 is a 346 ci engine, not a 350 like the LT1 (last model of Corvettes and F-Bodies).
A 427 I believe is like a 6.3 liter, so it is probably a 5.7 stock LS1 block bored and stroked.

That Corvette is rather ugly IMO, just like the Camaro. D@mn Chevy, gotta ***** everything up. Yes I agree, GM is stupid.

I'll take my bike for 10k and run 9s all day before I spend 10x that much for maybe low 11s?

well the 03 cobra which is like $38,000 has a 396 horses an torque, a couple of choice bolt ons, gear changes an a good driver an it'll take that vette..dosen't sound like anything new...jus more of a tuner car like the saleens, steedas, roush mustangs.IMO
i think lingenfelter does tuner corvettes, maybe Shelby also. i'm not sure.
christ 100K! i could buy several fast, neat cars for the cost of one of those corvettes.

GM buyers= not much on brains but plenty of dough obviously

Everyone drools over the $150,000.00 GT-40 that has 500 HP.

But everyone rags on a 500 HP $95,000.00 Vette.

I dont get it

I think it looks pretty cool, but without the blue color in the doors.

I think they're both over priced, but comparing a GT-40 with a production Vette is like comparing a Hugo to a 911 porsche. The original GT-40 was one of the most dominating race cars ever built !!

Personally I think the GT-40 looks weird. We already know what kind of times the Z06 is capable of so just imagine what this most likely under rated 500 HP version will do.

You could compare that Vette to nearly any car including the GT-40. I bet it out accelerates the GT-40 and probably handles as well if not better.

Hey but thats just me,

Perhaps we're talking about different cars ? i've included a picture of the GT-40 MK-II .... hardly a "weird" looking car to me ? and as far as it being out accelerated by that vette ... Perhaps, because it was never ment as a drag car, but a production vette handling as well as a GT-40 ?... that car in 1966 dominated Datona then turned around and dominated Sebring then went to Europe to the Le Mans 24 hour race, which had been totally dominated by the Europeans since the beginning of time, and took 1st 2nd and for good measure 3rd. It was powered by a 427 which in its stock form was 425 HP and this was fords NASCAR 427 so i'm sure it was in excess of 500 HP ... that vette isn't worthy to keep this cars parking spot warm. IMHO
PS: the name came from the fact it was 40 inches tall (just slightly taller than your kitchen table ! )

I would take a 500 HP and 500 TQ Corvette with a 427BB over just about anything.

I would take the Vette in this thread and the Lingenfelter TT vette over the GT-40.

But like I said thats just me.
