Post NASCAR time again!

Just wondering how many of you watched Daytona qualifying, the Bud Shootout, etc. and what your thoughts are. I'm pretty open-minded as far as car brands go, so I'm really excited to see that Dodge is back and already making a name for itself again.

I'm already laying in lots of food and beverages for the big show next weekend...

Not to be a party pooper or question you guys at all, but I'm curious...what is it about NASCAR that you enjoy? I've always just seen it as some guys in some superfast cars going in circles. Let me say again, I'm not trying to be a d!ck or be sarcastic or some stupid sh!t like that, I'm just kinda curious.

Maybe its the strategy involved in being the first to go 500 miles while making it thru spin outs, bumping, bad pitstops etc. Or the fact that these guys are flying at speeds I wish I could do (legally). I'm just happy to see racing season coming back and that includes all types from NASCAR to rally and touring car, LeMans series and even F-1. My husband and I plan our Sundays around the races and wish we could have the opportunity to catch one in person. It really is great to see Dodge back in the NASCAR circle again. They were one of the first to get this sport going and if their pole position is any indication of things to come, we're in for an interesting season.
Cheers.

I've been freaking out for a while with no racing. Between my own car, NHRA & NASCAR its a wonder I get anything done. My dad's birthday is always Daytona 500 weekend so its been a father son traditon to watch my whole life. And for the cat who asked what's the big deal, its like anything else if you have to ask you wouldn't understand anyway...

84_GT350: I have been asked the same question by many of my friends (particularly my female ones - no offense to the women on this board!). Many question why I want to watch guys driving in circles for three hours!

It's a lot of things really. Like JanesLX50, I really admire the strategy involved. Anymore you don't only have to be faster than the other cars, but your team has to be smarter. The driver and pit crew have to be in top physical condition, and the driver has to endure intense in-car temps at times. I challenge the statement that racers aren't "athletes" whenever it comes up.

Then there's also the scenarios where two drivers on opposing teams have to help each other out so that one can win the race. Not something you see in the "stick and ball" sports. And the different types of racing you see at different tracks (Daytona vs. Bristol vs. Watkins Glen).

I could go on and on, but the last thing I will tell you is if you've only seen racing on TV, get to the track. It will definitely make a fan out of you. Check it out.

I have been a huge nascar fan for lots of years. I just love the whole spectacle of the sport. It is awesome how these guys can concentrate hard enough to be with in one inch of other racers at 200 mph. There is tons of strategy invovled also.

I am glad to see dodge in nascar i think it will just make it that more intresting. I always go for the fords though.
Hope Jeff burton gets his first championship

I suppose I can see that....but give me 1320ft of straight line any day. It doesn't last as long, but to me it's a helluva lot more exciting.

I agree with 69 fastback. 43 cars going 200 with an inch between them all around. How many people do you know that you would trust to do that.
