Unhappy Ever heard of this happening?

Well, I guess I really do have a 'leadfoot'. I broke the gas pedal in my '00 while speedshifting. That's one I've never heard of before.

If you were looking at it facing forward with it installed in the car, it cracked around the hole in the lower left part of the pedal that the horizontal part of the metal rod goes through. It happened during a little 0-100mph run in the Broadway tunnel in SF. I had to pay Ford $60 (for a molded plastic piece????) to order a new one and they are supposed to reimburse me after they take a look to make sure it is a warranty repair (wtf?) and replace it. The guy at the parts counter was pretty funny - he just grinned when I told him and said 'Guess you were all the way in it, eh?". I sure hope this is not something that is going to happen to me every couple years. Maybe I should check my floorpan too to make sure I haven't dented it!

Hey Blue, how far is your town from Concord? There's a show on Friday, and I wanted to check out your GT.

Stoplight: I am about an hour or so from Concord. I'd love to come out there for a show, but I work on Friday and that is the day they are supposed to fix my gas pedal. Is the show Friday only? Even if I can't make this I'd be happy to come out and meet you sometime.

Well, the dealership replaced it under warranty today. I found one thing very interesting - the gas pedal is now at about the same height as the brake and clutch, whereas before it was way lower. Maybe they changed the design because of people complaining that it was a pain to heel and toe shift. I also can actually feel it when the pedal hits the stop now where I couldn't before. Maybe I was hitting carpet before and have more throttle now?...
