fun at the track last night
A buddy of mine wanted to run his car last night, so we loaded up and took off. He has a rather stock 88 GT, with a E cam, ported E7's and ported lower intake. He is still running the stock 2.73 gear. He is also running a 150 shot. Anyway, we got there and got the ET streets on and he made a pass. 8.6@82mph. Not bad concidering that before last night he's been stuck in the 9.0-9.5 range.
Well, he makes it back to the lane and asks me to see what I can get. I cleaned the tires off a little and staged. I launched at about 3500, spraying off the line. The car stayed in first for atleast half track. She was trying to dance her way down the track, but I reined her in(pun intended). Hit second and she straighted up. I reached over and killed the spray, figuring that I was pretty much at the end of the track anyway, and powered through to the line. As soon as I hit the return road, my phone starts ringing. It was a buddy of mine in the stands watching. He was like, "Dude, did you see what 'my buddy that ownes the car' ran?" I said, " I just ran that. What was it?" 8.252@85.075mph No one was within 3 tenths of me all night. The car had a little more in it, but I didn't want to blow the thing up. I was really happy with that, but now I have to get mine to go 8.0 or better. Can't get beat by a car that I helped build and tune, ya know? Anyway, just wanted to post that. I knew I could drive, but 0.3 faster than the guy that drives it everyday, that's just funny. Later. |

Great run. Those are mid and low 13s. (thanks to the street slicks)
Personally, I'd feel kinda bad if my buddy was able to drive my car better than myself. Well, I guess, you don't really have to worry about his car being faster than you since you're a better driver.

Always nice to squueze more outta a car. W/ ET streets I dont see why you couldnt launch a lot higher than 3500 w/ that car. Tell him to get some damn gears! I think thats a high 12 ET to me. I might expect some more mph w/ ported heads and a 150shot tho.
