Question Attack of the Clones

Somebody left me a present this morning. A copy of Star Wars EP2, was left for me. Now I have to wait until I get home to find crash my buddies place and fire it up on his 60" TV. I will post a reveiw later today, unfortuantely I don't have the software on this CPU to watch it, or i would let you all know how it is. Lucas must be peeved about this. Not that he is really going to lose my $8, but that this kind of stuff happens.

My brother saw it on Saturday. He said it was possibly the best Star Wars movie ever.

Yeah, I think you can already get it off of Morpheus / Kazzaa... This is a movie you have to go see on the big screen though. Hopefully you have a theatre in your area though that is showing it on a digital projector though!

Exclamation Recap

Portman is hot, but she isn't in it enough. Is she ever?
Plot moved as fast as Tireburner's car. Now that is slow!!
Lucas and my $8.00, not gonna happen.
Glad I saw it for free.

Saw it last night at the midnight showing.

Verdict is a 4 out of 5 stars...

Good movie. It sets up a lot of the star wars universe that exists in movies 4 through 6.

Thankfully Jar-Jar is HIGHLY minimized this go around.

Best part of the movie is the last half hour.
A HUGE battle sequence with Jedi and Stormtroopers
(and its not what you think...)

Yoda gets to kick a little booty...

Overall:
MUCH better than the first one but not as good as Spider Man for pure entertainment...

It will never be as good as the originals. But it can come close.

Tireburner, you're a good kid. I was just giving you a hard time about the car being slow, 'cuz your sig is "THE SLO PONY". Additionally the plot was all smoke and no fire.

I would have said the same thing. Worth going to, but not as cool as Spiderman.

I was disappointed. The acting was TERRIBLE. The flat deliveries from portman and the kid at the beginning were just horrible.

Episode 1 was definatly better.

Also the Yoda fighting scene was entertaining but out of character in my opinion.

They are beginning to stretch belief farther than it should be stretched.

I mean jumping off a speeder falling down and grabbing onto another through space (opening chase sequence) is just too much.

It felt to me that it turned into more of a matrix and special effects show.

The first 3 are definatly the best and always will be.

I have to say the scenes, aliens, effects and onscreen show was awesome, but the story and acting was definatly lacking.

All in all 7/10, but it sould have been a 9.

It was good just on the special effects and story, even though the acting was "poor" at times. However, Spiderman was still much better overall. It had great special effects and also had at least decent acting too.

I saw the movie tonight and loved it. You have to remember that this is a twelve hour story. It's going to be slow at times in order to set up the later (IV, V, VI) films. I'm glad Jar Jar was limited-- he sucked in the first episode. It's nice to finally see Yoda in action. Later films talk of him being the strongest Jedi, but all we ever see him do is run his gums. It's about time we get to see what he can do. I thought that was the best scene of the movie. I do find it unfortunate that the special effects are better in the new movies than the older ones. For instance, in the first episode Qui Gon cuts through a steel door with a light saber, but in later episodes nothing like this happens. The fight scenes with the Jedi look natural in the first two episodes as opposed to the last three.

Aww.... now quit complaining. I waited in line for 20 minutes to get tickets to a matinee showing, arrived at the theater 30 minutes before the show in order to get good seats, and then not 10 minutes into the movie some ****** pulls the fire alarm!!! Everyone is pretty ticked off at this point, but then they tell us they don't know how to shut off the fire alarm and won't be able to restart the movie, and now we've got an uproar. Imagine a theater full of die-hard Star Wars fans being told they won't be able to see the movie today because if they did restart it, it would throw off the schedule for the remaining shows. They ended up giving everyone a raincheck and giving refunds for the drinks and popcorn if you had bought any. This did little to appease the crowd, but after lots of complaining we finally got out of there.

Just remember as bad as the movie is... it could be worse! I'm just thankful we weren't farther into the movie, I would have been furious if it had stopped with only the last 30 minutes to go.

Like a lot of ppl, I grew up with star wars. I used to be into as a kid (tons o toys) as a young adult (reading books that were based in the star wars setting) and now as an older adult (getting all the backstory I have always wanted)

It is a big deal to me when another chapter is released, I took the day off and got in line at 10:30 am this morning to wait for the box office to open at 3:30 PM. The longest I had ever waited in line for a movie was 1 1/2 hours (ID4 lol)

Was the movie worth the wait? Yes, for me it exceeded all expectations I had for it and loved the whole movie. Lucas can tell a story like no-one else. I thought this one was done better than ANY of the previous ones.

Lucas will get at least three viewings out of me. I will gladly fork over the cash, he has entertained me as long as I can remember and hope he continues to do so.

Great, now I have to wait another 2 1/2 years for the next!

I agree with you Sky, nothing will ever come close to the original 3.

Exclamation Attack of the moans

Haven't seen the movie yet and won't for a few weeks but I've read a lot of reviews (amateur and professional) and I have a few comments.

(ahem).

First, it doesn't matter how good or even how bad this chapter is, it will make hundreds of millions. The last Star Wars movie was universally panned by both fans and critics and yet it managed to make 450 million dollars. Go figure.

It's entertainment, folks, not a documentary or a heavy drama. George Lucas isn't trying to change the world, just make a movie, have fun and make money. Candy for the mind but you have to think just enough to make it interesting.

Finally; most all the actors spend months playing to a blue screen and fighting imaginary bad guys, swishing light-swords through the air at nothing. This tends to make 'acting' difficult and the less than stellar performances some of the actors deliver are to be expected.

I'll see it when the crowds die off and enjoy it because I don't expect anything more than to be entertained, which I'm certain I will be.

mr. 5.0,
When you do go see it, try to see it at a digital theater. I was really impressed with the difference in picture quality! I am still trying to figure out how (and why) this little city (Yuma AZ) ended up with one of those $150,000 systems! Current theater count WORLDWIDE with the digital systems 34. For a list of what theaters have it go here: http://www.technicolordigital.com/whydigital/list.asp

Smile Going Digital

ed:

Thanks for the tip. There's a digital theatre in both Hartford and Trumbull, CT. I'll try to see it there, as you suggested.

Most of the Digital theaters are in California so you and I are fortunate to have them in our areas.

Lucas envisioned most theatres being digital by 2002 and planned his movie with that in mind. He was wrong, obviously.

Much like HDTV; a great idea that will eventually be accepted - but not today.
