Default Major gas leak outside of my house

Well I was heading out to drop off my rental car and my street was blocked by construction crews. I knew they had been laying fibre interduct for a while but it pissed me off that they blocked my street. So I went through my complex to the only other exit, and that was blocked too! I saw a police car and a fire truck, and a PG&E crew. Then I saw it... a huge gas leak coming out of the ground. I have never seen gas spew out like that!!!! Oh man could I smell it.

They have blocked off both sides of the busy street that the gas line runs down. There are 2 huge high schools across the street too, De La Salle High School (#1 football in the US) and Crondelet.

Good to hear it was contained in time and no injuries.

Yeah...that's some scarry stuff. There was a house here in Plainview that blew up from a gas leak. Didn't leave anything but splinters and a washing machine.

About three miles north of my house, there is a large natural gas relay station. We passed by it anytime we went to town. One day we noticed from afar that a large white plume was coming from the station. It sits right off the road and you have to drive within 100 yards of it when you pass. I don't know why we didn't stop and I still shiver to think what could have happened, but we went ahead and drove by as we had errands to run. The plume was issuing forth with a mighty roar, and it rose to about 50-100 feet in the air before it disapated. The roar from the leak was so intense that as we drove by it actually shook the windows in the car. After we passed, we could still see the plume of gas for about 7-8 miles.

I don't know what type of gas it was (likely not a very volatile gas or I would not be typing this post), but it was an awesome sight to behold.

About 400 miles north! Concord is about 30 miles east of Oakland and 45 miles east of San Fransisco.

I have not run the RC car in a while. I need to buy some gears for it cause the teeth are all chewed up.

It was her house that blew up. She was over at my other aunt's house at the time, which is only about 60 ft. from the explosion. Thank God no injuries. The other building that caught fire was a garage that sets behind her house.
