Skipping cd-roms
Is it just me, or do cd-roms skip real easily, especially in the car, on bumps that never make regular cd's skip, the cd-r's skip big time. Why?

Hey Joe,
Mine does it ALL THE TIME> wether its just on the little markers in the middle of the street when I drive over them, or the mountainous speed bumps infront of my place. Very annoying. Probably how most of my CDs get so screwed up!! ------------------ 1994 GT.Convertible/Performance Red. Cold Air Ind.,K&N,H.P. Well I think its your cd player thats the problem...some get very sensitive with time like the one in my home stereo...certain cds will skip through songs..while in my discman they play just fine...also older cd players in cars were not made to work with cd-r's because the cd-r has a different type of burn than the ones you buy. Thats why most cd players today talk about cd-r compatibility in specifications...I have a new pioneer deck in my lincoln and I have driven down lumpy bumpy dirt roads no skipping and cd-rs don't skip either...and no it ain't the air suspension

I bought a MP3 player for my car to fix that.

I have heard of people using old computers (486s or slower) for mp3 players. They'll have DOS installed and use a DOS mp3 player, and have it set the mp3 player to startup so it's on when the car is on. It's a mega-cheap solution.
