Thumbs down Stupid Feminists Strike Again

Since we're on the trend of gender discussions, I just thought I would post about the most annoying commerical I've seen in a LONG time.

I'm sure most of you know about the new chick channel...Oxygen (a terribly mutated, larger LIFETIME *shudder*). Well, being the Cartoon Network freak that I am, I keep seeing this commerical for the new channel, with the baby girls keep throwing off their pink bonnets and the background music keeps repeating "I am strong, I am invincible"

I mean, since when is being feminine the opposite of being "independent"? Since I like Hello Kitty and LOVE baby pink, does that mean that I'm somehow less "strong" than some idiot militant feminist that throws off her : pinkness :? Argh...sorry just wanted to vent

Thumbs up

Mustangbelle306:

I've seen that idiotic Oxygen Network commercial.

You're right, it attempts to appeal to the foolish women who actually believe that rejecting delicacy or softness is tantamount to 'empowerment'.

As I see it, that feminist bull is telling women that you have to be masculine to be 'strong' and independent. So, ladies, you reject your femininity to gain what?
Assistant VP of Auto Loans at the bank?
You want to look like Janet Reno? Really?

This old wheeze that women have to be 'like men' (including having serial lovers) to be 'empowered' is nuts, in my male opinion. Men don't want more 'men in dresses' to compete with, life is tough enough. We prefer women to embrace their feminine attributes, not reject them.

Sure, we want you to be competent and smart, as well as fun, but we also want you to be what God made you; Female. The opposite of us. Soft, warm, tender and sweet. Sexy, sure, sometimes. Capable, naturally. No one really wants a 'clinging vine'.

But mostly, just be the women you are. Not 'Ho's, not nuns, not dykes, just women. Drive us nuts but don't abandon your identity in some misguided attempt to be 'empowered'. We adore you, individually and admire you, as a whole. Don't throw that away. Ignore feminist nonsense.

I hope the Oxygen Network (and Oprah Winfrey) tank.

what are you trying to say: strong enough for a man, but PH balanced for a woman? or pink is Juuuuuuuuuuust not your color?
something in that line? or just because you are a female, you are supposed to like pink? you are less strong if you let that steeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeewpid commercial get to you!

rock on!

oh, and give weight to the smile....

Errrrr...no. I was saying that's what the COMMERICAL was trying to portray. I love pink and my Hello Kitty wallet...and socks...and shirt...and...well you get the idea I swear SRV you always misinterpret me

I'm SAYING that it is very possible to be both "girly" and strong, in your own way. And, no I'm not less strong by letting that commerical get to me: it is a verv valid concern that those type of messages will lead to a whole new generation of women that recieve these skewed messages that are shoveled by the likes of Gloria Steinem and Oprah Winfrey. The ideas pushed by these "women" are the same that incite the women you complain about saying they just want to be friends, because they "don't need a man".

I don't ALWAYS misinterpret you!

Sometimes - yeah, but most of the times, no.
SORRY! I misread your statement. I don't know what a 'Hello Kitty' is, but I kind of do now! It's very rare of me to watch any TV. I don't watch it much. I know about the O2 channel. I've seen it once. I just thought it was a channel for women who "stay at home during the day". Like the 'soaps', I guess.

I know it's possible to be "girly" and strong in your own way. As for the commercial, basically what I meant was to just ignore that commercial.

NO! those aren't the same WOMEN I COMPLAIN about! I don't like feministic women. Therefore I wouldn't be around them. Those aren't the women I'm COMPLAINING about! The women that I'm COMPLAINING about are the ones that don't have a clue 'what they want'! Or they are "confused"! Those are the types I get mixed with!

And ALL of the women that wanted to be "FRIENDS", didn't have the guts to tell me what they want. Just led me on. All of mine were excuses! Maybe not all the women use that for an excuse and really mean it, but for me, they all used that as an excuse!

As for that Oxygen channel, I would just keep on surfin by!

this is pretty intresting. I understand what u are saying though belle i have met lots of girls in my life time that where very strong but yet still very girlie all at the same time. 2 of which are female members of my family. Both are as about as girlie as they come but just as storng as any female i have ever met. Hell i like girlie type females it attracts me for some reason. The point is u don't have to be all masculine and butch and a beotch about it to be a strong female.

My avatar is not indicative of what I think is correct...I don't think you resemble a woodpecker

I think she's an trailblazer in the sense that she knows that she is not the most intellectual woman, yet lonely men worldwide will buy her magazines, videos, and watch her shows (making her a millionaire) and drool over her when she has ZERO acting ability and seemingly the education of a 10th grader. Although personally I would never try to make money off my body/appearance, I always admire those that can manipulate the shallowness of today's society to their benefit, for it is the salivating peons that feed the demand .

Also, I never said I was against fake boobs. I'm against them if you undergo the knife to make someone else happy, or if they look disgusting (the water balloon appearance). If you want bigger breasts to please yourself, and they don't look that bad, why the heck not? Its important to like how you look for YOURSELF, not for anyone else. But I also do think that natural is always nicer. I hear that they do not feel the same...I mean...water in a bag isn't exactly the closest to a natural boob

i never implied that you said anything on the matter. i understood why you put Pam as your avatar. just stating my opinion. but that is one of the most "known" things about her. that and the home videos. im lonely. i dont buy, watch or pay for any of her merchandise. to me she is just a ****. period! and, NO, you never said anything on this matter of bringing it up. as for "inner beauty", most of the time it doesnt really work like that in the real world.
and yes, i am a ****** at times!

I don't really understand your post after this point:

"NO, you never said anything on this matter of bringing it up. as for "inner beauty", most of the time it doesnt really work like that in the real world."

Well, obviously it doesn't, but who could change that (if we wanted to? US. People just don't care enough to...nothing is wrong with a nice physical appearance. In fact, I think it is necessary to be VERY attracted to your mate (beauty is in the eye of the beholder). Like I said, I admire her determination in playing for fools the very people that make it possible for her to prosper.

I have to agree with Mr 5 0. I couldn't have said it any better myself. Women Think they have to shed the Wo, to men, to get anywhere in life. Trust me, I don't want a Janet Reno for a wife. Yes I lick a little toughness in one, but I don't want a women that thinks she has to be more manly then me.

Quote:
69fastback: I totally agree! I'm the chick with the Hello Kitty purse that will beat you with it if you start steppin!!!!
But she has to be strong enough to stand up for herself and me. There is a fine point between too much girlyness, and girlmanlyness. Women can't be a man, to some, it sounds sexest. To me, it sounds right.

Quote:
but we also want you to be what God made you; Female. The opposite of us. Soft, warm, tender and sweet. Sexy,
I don't want nothing else. The opposite,(not in the love for cars).

Another thing, when women want equal rights, they fight for it, but when they get it, they don't want it. What is this. They want to be treated the same, so we do. But then they camplain that we are being sexist. What the hell??? How do we win this? Women say they don't want the man to treat them any different then another man. To me, that means no flirting, no opening doors for them, no special treatment for them; just kick them out there and say, "it's a cruel world."

Me, I treat them the way that the old school girl wants to be treated. They may complian about the special treatment, but I feel better inside that I did what was right and good to them; like opening doors, walking on the road side of the sidewalk, little things that make a big difference in life.

Beauty may be in the eye of the beholder, but to place looks in one of the upper most priorities in a relationship is just.....Shallow.

Appearances may be one of the reasons why that 'someone' caught your eye, but I've been attracted to women before because of their personality and conversation.

Looks wont carry a relationship far at all, I'd hate to have a relationship with so little depth.

As for Pamela Anderson, I have no respect for her, never have, never will, regardless of how much money she made off of selling Wedding Night videos, and showing her body parts jiggle while running the sandy beaches.

Money should not come before Integrity.

If that's what it takes to be famous, then I'll just have to pass.

I hate that commercial. It actually makes me angry. The message I get from it is "Women are just plain stupid from birth", and i don't personally believe that.

Take care,

Quite frankly, I've never understood the whole women's lib thing. I mean, you already have half the money and all the nookie, and you (as a whole) wield it like a sword sometimes.

Not trying to imply anything negative, or start a flame war. As a famous Indian woman once said when her people were at war, "We are your mothers, you are our sons."

I forget the rest, but it's very moving. I'll see if I can find it. I have it laying around here somewhere. Anyway, The point of it is this; if it weren't for your mom, you wouldn't be here. Treat every woman as you would treat you own mom. If you live by that rule, you'll never go wrong.

Just my $0.02, not that's it's worth much.
Later.
