Default Need help with speaker specs. Which is true

Ok what size speakers are in the door and in the back? I've heard 5 1/2" and 6 1/2" for the front. I've heard 6x8 and 5x7 in the back. Which is true?|

Each car is different and every year can varry. I know alot of cars use 6x9's in the rear or you a non-oval speaker so it will be axb and front are usually oval so like 4" speakers and up.
So they can be both true.

i have 6.5" Blaupunkt's in the doors and they fit perfect. i also have 5x7 pioneer's in the rear and they bolted just fine to the speaker grill. i use to have 6x9's but had to squeeze them in, and they didn't sound as good!

I think 6" are in the front and I know that the rear ones are 6x8's. You might be able to squeez 6x9's in there.

in my 87 the doors take 6.5s ,the back ones take 5x7s and the dash takes 3 1/4s............be aware of the depth of the speakers you buy.........
i have 6 1/4 infinity's in my doors ,the depth was to deep so i had to mount them on the surface of the speaker covers,............
i have 5x7 polk audio speakers in the back ,they fit in the factory opening fine.........i originally put 5x7 infinity's in these opening's they fit but the clearance was tight for the magnit's.........
also have 4" infinity's in the dash ,but had to do some modifications to fit them,i had to inlarg openings and loosen up the smalle defroster ducts that are below speakers for depth clearance

well good luck hope i helped

Smile Mach1 beat me to it..

I highly recommend Crutchfield as well. I did some of my xmas shopping with them and everything went great. The instructions they send with thier equipment is very detailed, anyone can follow them.

As far as the car, I have 3 1/2" in the dash, 6 1/2" in the doors and the back(all Infinity Kappas).

JBL Speakers are for crystal clear sound, like they have a very detailed sound (I can't think of the word I want right now) lol Infinity are good for BASS, it depends what kind of music you listen too.

my jbl's dont have a lot of bass, now that you mention it. I always thought it was because of the size.

the dash has 31/2 the doors have 61/2 and the rear has 5x7/6x8. The 6x8's are the same as 5x7's they just have differet mounting rings. i know it sounds weird but they do. Hopefully i will be putting a better stereo in my car but im running out of money with other stuff (radiator, INSURANCE ETC.) anyways... I dont recommend repalcing the 31/2s with coaxials. Im gonna put a component system in instead . 61/2's in doors and seperate tweeters in the dash. Alpine component systems are awesome! Yes infinity, JBL, Polk speakers are good. ive never heard kenwood before. Crutchfield is good for installation plans but they can be very expensive. I wouldnt buy a reciever from them because you can find them much cheaper online. Sounddomain.com is a cool place for knowledge about stereos.

Later,
Nick

I don't really like Kenwood speakers or subwoofers. I do have a Kenwood amp and a Kenwood 10-disc CD changer though. I have a friend with 2 Kenwood 12" subs and Kenwood speakers in his car....they aren't that great....he might just not have them setup right though...he's kind of an idiot.....
