Lightbulb 3 Tidbits Not Worthy Of Their Own Thread

wo interesting bits on TV recently, and another I read, that weren't worthy of their own thread, but combined, well, you be the judge.

From the news tonight:

There's a lady somewhere north of here in California that has her neighbors in an uproar. It seems that she has a phallic "shrub" in her front yard. It stands a fairly straight 20 feet tall, and has two smaller, round outgrowths at it's base. Local law enforcement has responded to the complaining neighbors, telling them that not only is there no law on the books preventing it, but that growing and grooming her "shrub" that way is her constitutional right.

What do you want to bet the cop that said that was a chick?

From one of the "Discovery/Science" type cable channels:

At over 29,000 feet, Mt Everest is the tallest peak in the world. By comparison, the average coast to coast jetliner has a cruising altitude of between 30,000 and 36,000 feet. Point being that it's pretty damn tall. YET, if you were able to shrink the Earth down to the size of a billiard ball, the Earth's surface would be smoother (than the billiard ball).

That could explain some of my shots the last time I played pool.

From the 6/02 issue of Car Craft Magazine:

This one should be read by all California street racers! Due in part to a fatality involving street racing earlier this year, Senator Don Perata of Oakland has sent a bill to the California State Senate that would allow police officers to impound cars involved in street racing, for a period of 30 days, at the owners expense, and force them to pay an additional $1500 fine to get it back.

I hate to say it, guys and gals, but this one is going to become law. Right here in Ventura County, there have already been 3 fatalities from street racing this year, and other counties have been reporting similar problems. While there are street racers that vote, I'm afraid there are more voters who are against street racing, and the Senators know that. Might be a good time to get used to racing at tracks rather than the street. Either that, or start playing the lottery more often.

Take care,
-Chris
