Default Barry Bonds

I don't know who the baseball fans are but Barry Bonds just hit his 600th career homerun. What an awesome feat, absolutely amazing. Just the 4th person to ever have 600 career homeruns!

Hank Aaron- 755
Babe Ruth- 714
Wille Mays- 660
Barry Bonds 600

It would take 2-3 years to break Aarons record.

If he keeps hitting 60+ a year. Remember now, it wasn't too long ago that 61 seemed an insurmountable record, and Bonds isn't getting pitches this year.

Smile Barry Bonds HR record

Barry Bonds is 38 years old and the odds of him playing and hitting at a strong, consistent pace long enough to break the Hank Aaron record are slim to none, the Babe Ruth record, slim, and the Mays record...possibly, if he doesn't get injured, no strike, no slumps, etc.

I think Sammy Sosa has a better chance to break the record than Barry. He's youger and gets more pitches to hit because the Cubs suck.

I think both Sammy and Barry have a good shot at breaking Hanks record. It may take a move to the American League for Barry though. It doesnt matter though, A Rod is going to surpass them all.

In terms of the overall home run record, the person who will be the next record holder, barring injuries, is Sammy Sosa. He is averaging 60 home runs a year since 1998. Right now I believe he is at 492 career and 40 for the season....he should easily reach 510 this year if there is no strike. At that pace, he should have the record by the 2007 season at age 37. A Rod is a good hitter, but we are jumping the gun on him breaking the record. He still hasn't reached the 300 plateau and there are several guys who hit close to the same numbers up to this point in their career(250 plus home runs by 27) and then slacked off. A good example is Griffey who everyone thought would continue on the pace he had but injuries slowed him. The other thing to think about was brought up earlier....imagine what Barry would do if he got more pitches...last season he set the single season home run record and the single season walk record...he also leads the majors in walks this year. And remember Mr 5.0, Hank got the home run record at what age??
