Exclamation I'm not joking,he actually said it.....

Ok, I'm watching TV last night and flip by The Speedchannel and just for #$%^ and giggles I start watching Hi-rev tunerz(sp?). I try to see if I can pick up some ideas for picking up some ponies for my SVO(4banger turbo). Of course, this show is about how stylish(riced out) a car is and not it's performance. I'm getting ready to turn it because they show this hideous orange CRX. The host starts talking about how awesome this car is and is talking to some big import magazine guy and the guy actually says that they picked the CRX for an article because the CRX is the "57 Chevy of our generation". Did I pass out and miss something? When did the CRX come anywhere close to the 57 Chevy? It's one thing to pretend rice is cool, but don't try to put it in the same class as a legend. At least he picked on a Chevy.

Let me guess, the 5.0 of "Generation Moron" must be the Civic... Jeez

I've heard this said many times. It is blashemy, and if they ever figure out how to try and make them handle, they'll be corvettes or mustangs. Ugh.

Here's the backstory:
People see the '57 Chevy (more the 55-57) as "the car" for hot rodders of a generation. They were relativly cheap, plentiful and parts were easy to come by. Think about how many are still around, after all the abuse they got for almost 50 years.

Civics are cheap, plentiful, and now there are plenty of aftermarket parts available.

To the untrained eye, they seem the same. Neither one was really a 'performance' car in base form. Bel Air, ok, but how much better was it really than an Si Civic?

The major difference is power. You could drop a 350, 396 or even 454 into a Shoebox no problem. Civics you simply cannot make go that fast. oooh, I've got a whole 2.2 in my car now. Heck, I crap bigger than that!

If you don't look at performance it may be possible to drink enough dran-o to compare the two. Still makes my stomach turn.

Hey srv1, I do have some pics but I'm not exactly a computer whiz so I'll have to figure out how to post it. Remember that my car is a project and does not look the greatest right now. It runs and handles good and the interior is in really good shape, so to me the painting it will be a small thing. Oh, I will paint it back the original dark-sage green. It is only one of 47 total green SVO's built during those 3 years, that makes it the rarest color. It might be easier for me to e-mail the pic to you.

No joke about that. Wanna have a car that costs the least amount of money to modify?

Buy a Civic and then jack an engine out of an Accord. That's why the Accord is the most stolen car in America. Any little hood with $2000 worth of drug money can buy a beat up Civic and the lift the larger, more powerful motor from an Accord.

Little ***-wipes should be exterminated.

The '55 shoebox is my favorite too. I actually had one back in the day (62?) but it was a 6 banger, 3 speed, rustbucket. I considered it a beater/economy car at the time.

If you go to the Flowmaster website and listen to the soundclip of the muffler they put on the 1.8L Integra GSR the representative who is talking says that hondas and such are the muscle cars of today.. I own a modded Accord and think this is the funniest thing I have ever heard Morons..

Maybe he meant a '57 style 4 door taxi-cab. There used to be a pile of those running around. ( made by the checker cab company for years and years I believe). They were ugly and slow too!
