Why do we favor bigger?
For the most part, if you disregard penis size, the smaller, more efficient model of product is usually favored. Take computers... I remember my old apple that was the size of the entire desk with a 40mb harddrive. Now, I have this gigahertz thingy that is half the size! There's always that guy with that new cell phone that is the size of his thumb.. people are like "holy crap, that's so cool". So why do I crave bigger engines? I would give a lot to have a V-10 at my command. There are smaller, very quick, even fast engines, sometimes faster and more efficient, but they do nothing for me. So... why? Any ideas? I think sound has a lot to do with it, but that isn't the whole story. Any ideas? I figured I'm not the only one that would rather have a big a** V-8 than a suped up V-6.

Simple answers: things like computers are faster and more powerful when made smaller. Things like engines - dependent upon volume of airflow - are more powerful when larger.
FWIW, yeah, I could stand to get rid of the ol' "big-box" computers, too. I have a mirco-ATX case and I still think it's a space hog. I'm waiting for the day when the interface you plug your keyboard & monitor into is larger than the actual area of the computer itself!

i don't necessarily favor bigger, i look at the final product and its performance......
i don't need the potential to make 1000 whp for a street machine, so overall maximum potential isn't of primary concern to me.

I realize that the bigger engines have more potential for power, but sometimes a more efficient engine with smaller displacement can be just as fast... For example... before he blew a cylinder or something to that effect (due to improper installation of certain engine modifications), my brother owned a Prelude. It was super charged and darn quick. I'm not saying it was quicker than my Cobra, not by a long shot, but in terms of most cars out there, and mostly in my area, it was fastest (well, second fastest ) car among our friends, relatives, etc. It was much cheaper than my Cobra, especially after I spent the money to have the Vortech put on it.
All I am saying is... God I love big engines.. but sometimes you can get the same/similar power with smaller engines.. so why don't I (we?) like those more than the bigger engines of the same power? Say compare a 300HP V-6 to a 300HP V-8, and there is no after market modifications to be made... I would hands down take the V-8, you know? Ah well... maybe it is just the sound .

maybe car engines just happen to be in the category as penises?
...the bigger they are, the more blood-pumping, screaming, thrust into your seat you get... ..kinda puts a second perspective on the guys who drive civics...lol

Well with engines bigger is better to a point. at a certain point displacement of a gas engine causes it to loose so much efficiency it starts loosing what it had. Larger Diameter Cyl means more area to filla s fast as a smaller cyl, that is why smaller engines are generally more efficient. But bigger engines just got all that lovely Torque. Ever drive a power 4cyl then hop into even the weakest V8 car you could find? Tho you know that most likely the 4cyl is faster the V8 feels it. And the human mind is primitive enough to weigh all common sense then toss it out the window for that caveman instinct "Ung push much" But this is something to toss in. Is it really larger displacement or more cyl? Lets reference to your 300hp V6 an 300hp V8. assume both are N/A and lets say 3.5L in displacement. They both MAKE the same power but how they make it is where it becomes different. the engine with more cyl has more cyl to do the same work thus making power a bit easier. Its power curve compared to the V6 is also goign to be different~Flatter. Now consider you have those 2 engines avail, and looking fromt he sole point of performance, that the V6 ca rmaking its 300hp is in a 2800lb car and lets say the V8 is in a 3500lb car. You see bigger is what we want for engine, smaller/lighter for the car.

Our fav. cookie,it's so delicious being so bite-size,why dont we make them bigger next time we bake them, more to enjoy! Make them bigger please! Wow,If you look at a house and you decide yes I could live in this house, but it could be bigger, get more room to keep furniture and a bigger kitchen to cook in,and and and more bedrooms for when company comes over, more room for the kids, and and bigger houses almost always come with 2-3 stall garages right? and and 2 stalls are better then just 1 stall right?! More room right Let's get the bigger house..Wahoo! If you a caffeine addict like myself,I prefer the 2 litter bottles of coke more then the 20oz bottles, cuz there's more to enjoy! Wahoo..lets get the big bottle, less time runnin back to the grocery store! Get the big bottle! Most of this is because of human nature and society's beliefs and why not,You only live once ! |

i have no idea why you had to use "penis" as a comparison.
do you have issues? bigger is better if you want to drag race. yeah you can make a 4cyl 1000hp but you can make an V8 over 4000hp!!! Just ask John Force!

It's cause our hormones bring us to cars... so we think from our penis mostly. It knows that the bigger the better so it runs on to engines... the bigger the better. Same with sound... you notice anything guys usually like are always wanted bigger, but more neutral stuff such as computers, cell phones, and such are wanted to be smaller, more convient...

Ladies say size don't matter..but when i pop my hood all they say is wow!! Ok enough perverted stuff.lol Seriously..big motors don't mean alot of hp. Just cuz you have 600+ or 700+ ci motors on three stages doesn't mean their gonna beat a little 420ci beast.
