The death of a youth is always sad...

But there is always that nagging feeling that if you're gonna take yourself out for crashing your parent's car (This happens ALL the time folks...) there are other problems going on in the background of that guy's head to begin with...

Oh my god how horrible

I agree though that he must have had other problems.. because obviously the dad wouldnt have killed him, probably just punish him heavily so I dont see how death could be better than that.

Sad.

Yep, gotta to agree there. If you think blowing your head off for crashing up a car is worth dying over...you got some problems.

That is very sad. I agree with the majority. He probably had other issues going on. I can't imagine anyone that would punish their child so severly that they would rather kill themselves.

I feel sorry for the dad (parents) knowing that his son killed himself b/c he (the son) thought he (dad) would love his car more than his son. What kinda family is that???

Maybe its something un-fortunate with vettes. A friend of mine's cousin just died in a vette 2 days ago. 17 yrs old. Tried to make a u-turn from the right lane of a 4 lane road and got broad-sided by a jeep cherokee. Sad story man. I guess one good thing is, he is a donator, so some unfortunate kid might have a chance.

Damn that is fuckin' crazy. If I crashed my dad's vette I wouldn't kill myself, I would just get my *** out of town. I don't even want to drive my dad's vette. It's a '73 with 52,000 orignal miles. Even if it wasn't my fault and I got into an accident I'd feel so bad.

I have a 23 and 16 yaer old kids, both boys...I would like to think that even if one of them crashed any of my cars that they would just tell me,sure I would be upset, but cars can be replaced.....says alot for the parents of this kid. No car is worth a life.

That's such a shame...

Hard to necessarily blame it on the parents, though. I almost always thought the punishment dealt to me was going to be much worse than it actually was, and that's kind of what helped keep me on the straight and narrow (for the most part) while growing up.

First time I wrecked Dad's car, he was on vacation too. I didn't think he was going to kill me, but I didn't exactly think he was going to be happy, either. Turns out he came home because he was worried I'd been injured. Didn't really care too much about the car. It cost $1,000 to fix and I spent the next few months paying him back from whatever crappy part-time job I had at the time.

Of course, the fact that Dad drove an 84 Buick (and not a Grand National, either) at the time may have had something to do with his easygoing attitude.

Unhappy Man, that is AWFUL...

ya, and the saddest part of all.....
How guilty the parents must feel to think he had no other option and had to do it???? As a parent myself, I dont think I could live w/ the guilt of knowing that my child felt it necessary to take that drastic of a measure for wrecking my car!!!!!!! I'd prolly be joining her soon!
Man, thats so sad.
TNT
I agree though, there had to be some other issues there somewhere.
