Someone help me out
My girlfriends father has a base 89 corvette. I really think that my mustang is faster and have been looking for quarter mile times for the vette, but have not been able to find anything. It's bone stock, and hardly gets driven. I guess what i am trying to find out is, could my 93 GT, with pulleys, air filter, off-road h-pipe, flowmasters, 3:73 gears, bumped timing, and shift kit beat a stock 89 corvette that doesn't get much attention. My girlfriend just doesn't want to believe that a corvette, no matter the year, is slower than a mustang and i really want to prove her wrong. Any info you could give me would be great, thanks.

Hey,
If you go to www.edmunds.com and choose the year model and make of the car. List the updates and such it will give you Horsepower listings, torque listings and the best possible 0-60 times. I hope that helps!

I think you'll get beat. If not it's gonna be a really close race.
I think 89's are TPI motors, am I right? -Josh, aka the tireburner

Well, one thing's for sure, if I were you, I wouldn't be so quick to be cocky . Depending on the shape of the vette (not beaten to death) you may have a chance. Sorry, but with your auto '93 GT w/ 3.73s (mid's 14s, MAYBE low 14s) against an '89 vette in good shape-- low 14s (is it manual or auto????), he may have you by a little there. But then again, many cars are diff, you may have a faster than average GT there, hope can prevail.

Corvette elapsed time
Adam:
Check out this link: http://www.pr.streetracing.org/whats_new.html#Chevrolet It gives a 14.3 et for the 1990 Corvette - so you have a shot here, considering your mods. Good luck.

I appreciate the responses and the links. I never claimed that I would smoke the vette, I just wanted to prove to my girlfriend that just because it says corvette on the back doesn't automatically mean that it is the fastest thing on the street. The vette is also an auto, and the truth is, that if he wanted to get rid of it, I would probably try to pick it up as another play toy. Again, thanks for the help, and keep any more info coming if you have it.
