Yeah, they do, but as far as I know, for an established "real" business the penalties are pretty light (banning for TOS violations/neg feedback, etc) No real damage <read:BottomLine>

I'm no lawyer, but I think the dealership wouldn't suffer any really negative repurcussions unless maybe you were able to make it a local issue (i.e. contact the dealership areas local "on your side" type of tv news group for an investigation)
If you can make them look bad publicly, they will bend over backwards to appease you.

bummer.

I run www.stangonline.com - an all mustang auction website.

If that happened on my site, there really isn't anything that I could do to "force" someone to sell a product to someone else. What I WOULD do is look into banning that user from the auctions.

Ebay will quickly refer you to their feedback system and that's it.
They have too many things going on to spend time chasing sellers that don't follow through.

That's so sad because it's so true. With as much money as they rake in you'd think they could afford to hire some folks to follow up on stuff like this...especially with such a "big ticket" item. I suppose a person's word doesn't mean anything anymore.

Default Ebay's policies

Even if Ebay invokes penalties, they will only ban that one salesman. Another salesman with another Ebay account will be listing cars from that same dealership tomorrow.

I've seen that thread elsewhere and the more I read it the more it pisses me off. I think Ebay should be some sort of legally binding agreement...no fine print. Fine print is for the untrustworthy. But that'll never happen. Coupled with that is the fact that they've got some new ad campaign that is somehow able to bypass my pop-up blocker that is SERIOUSLY annoying. Bah...screw 'em.

Default Read the feed back

The idea is that you can read the "feed back" to determine the reliabilitty of the seller. That's true to some extent. If a seller has 1000 sales with only poisitive feedback, then I for one believe it.

If someone has negative or not any feedback, one might want to consider if they want to risk buying from that seller.

Personally, I only buy from sellers with a good history of long standing.
