Be aware of this scam!
Guys:
About a month ago, I received an email from someone claiming they were from the United Arab Emmerates (UAE) and wanted to buy my stock rims from my GT that I was selling. The only place that I had these listed was HERE. The guy had obviously been reading posts at this site. We began a somewhat friendly email dialouge...he apprently knew some "personal" things about me that could have been easily inferred or picked-up from MW. His english appeared somewhat broken and a little confusing by reading his emails. But, he claimed to be building a Mustang and wanted the stock rims. He readily offered me my asking price and asked that I ship them to him ($225). He stated that if I were to give him my contact info, a cashier's check from a US bank for $4000 would be sent to me by a business associate who owed him this sum in the states. I was to deposit the check, deduct my fee, and mail the rest with the rims. This was an obvious scam and I discontinued communication with him. While recently on the Modular Depot, I recognized a similar setup from a new member claiming to be from Kuwait who apparently was getting ready to try the same thing. He claimed to be building up a Mustang and was ordering parts. His posts in my opinion were an attempt to "be friend" the users by gaining their trust. He got caught (not literally) and his thread was removed as the moderator was apparently tipped-off by the potential situation. Please be aware of these situations. Has anyone else run across this?

I've read about this on-line. There would have been a check, but it wouldn't be any good. If you deposit a check it sometimes takes weeks for it to clear err.. or for you to find out its worthless. He gains your trust and you deposit the check and send him the item you are selling and change for the phoney check. I can't believe people actually fall for it but apparently there have been quite a few.

Greed is a very powerful weapon when turned on the greedy. I have received numerous e-mails with scams like this but never associated with Mustangs!!! That is a new twist. Usually they have millions tied up in some country like the Congo or something and if you will help them (with some Money) get the account transfered to you in the US you will profit greatly.
It is an old scam and adding the mustang idea shows it is getting harder to pull off.
