Question Removing the silencer

Can anyone tell me where I can find a manual (Chilton, Clymer, whatever) for my 2000 V-6? I want to remove the silencer, but I can't find any manuals anywhere that show its exact location and how to safely remove it. I've heard that this is an easy way to gain power without being detected by the "warranty police." I have tracked down a K&N filter, so when that arrives I'd like to do it all at once.

I've been told the K&N filter is good for about 5 - 7 horsepower, but I haven't heard what the gain would be by removing the silencer. Any ideas? Any input on all of this will be greatly appreciated.
