this site is so dead lately :(
 

i dont get it. there used to be lots of posts and even responses to posts. i go to other mustang sites every few hours and there are more posts that are "new since you last logged in" than i can possibly read. here i am lucky if in the few forums i participate in there are even 3 or 4 total for the whole day (modular, street racing corner, blue oval). i dont get it, is everyone just not around for the summer or somethin? i think this is by far the best mustang site out there and its sad to see that its lacking in the forum dept (as compared to other sites) :(

Its been real slow the last month or so.

Alot of threads have a couple of responses. Or a few thread with a dozen or so.

Maybe "Back too school" does has somthing to do with it.

i just hope it picks up again, this is depressing.

This was kind of covered in another thread not too long. It is just summer time and more people are outside. Dan said this is typically the slow time of the year for the boards, although I agree with you both...it has seemed especially dead around here the last month.

All of the top posters have left the site for the most part. I can log on once a week now and read all the new post in 3 minutes.

I spend most of my time in Windsor power now.

Most of the mustangworks core group is now gone.

But hey I still like it here. :cool:

A lot of it is just that this is the slowest time of the year any ways... There's a lot going on in the dead of summer with events, shows, races, family outtings, summer activities and a lot of people don't get online nearly as much. Traffic has always been slowest on MW at this point in the year. It'll pick back up... it always does...

I think I'm part of the 'core' and I still post...some...not as much as I did before. I read alot though. I try to contribute when I can.

Where did the core of MWers go? I remember when a B303 vs E303 cam thread would go 3 or 4 pages!

Quite a few MW regulars post on our forum (http://www.RiceHatersClub.com) daily, but I'm only aware of one or two that don't come here as well, and they left here for stupid reasons. I'm very busy trying to keep RHC in top form, and don't get to other sites very much anymore. I still make a point of trying to help out in the MW Tech forums a couple times a week, but I've only replied to a thread in BOL maybe 3 times in the past 3 months.

FWIW, I agree with Dan that this is a slow time of year. Before summer started, we were averaging more than 600 posts a day, but lately we've been down to around 400-500 a day. MW always bounces back, and I'm sure it will again after the summer is over. maybe sooner!

Funny how a post about how the site has been dead is getting a lot of responses :D. Looks like many of us are lurking around here and just haven't posted anything that has grabbed everyone's attention lately.

Hey ive been gone for a while,but i would not call myself a long time member but i too remember when a new thread would get alot of hits too,but not now.Maybe its like the rest of you stated its the summer or something.For me its been me rebuilding my ride and my dads passing,but im back again,and im telling my story about my car in another thread so far i havent had any responces,but thats cool,hey maybe nobody cares or nobody belives what i have posted.In any case im gonna keep on posting and soon put up some pics.Maybe than ill get some responces.I still like this site and think its the best.I also like the rice haters club,although i dont post as much on that site.I like reading about all the other posters and the "regulars" they in my opinion are the best of the best.They are also on the ricehaters club website,and i really enjoy reading their stuff,i just hope they post more here is all.:confused:

Yeah, I think the summer has a lot to do with it. I know I have been pretty busy lately and when I am on the computer I spend most of my time trying to find a damn job.:mad:

I have always known about RHC, but never really paid much attention to it. I just cruised on over there and was suprised to see several people over there that I never see on MW anymore. But, like Chris said, a lot of them seem to frequent both sights. Just a handful of names that I don't see on MW anymore.

I also agree about the summer comments. I've been really busy with work, school, and racing, but I still try to come on everynow and then.

My last year of college is getting ready to start, and since I'll be working on campus (if you want to call that work), I'm sure I'll be posting atleast 10 a day then:)

If you edit your profile in the user control panel you can make your ride(s) appear on the left side now, and have the listing(s) linked directly to your user's rides record(s), if you enter the vehicle title and index number for each one. If you do not have the vehicle in the user's rides, and therefore enter no corresponding index number, it will be listed but not linked. If you have a listing for the vehicle (you can list up to 3 in your profile) and enter its index number then when it gets displayed next to your posts it will be linked directly to your listing for it. In addition, if you have a gallery with media files (regardless of what category they are in) then a link will also be displayed to "View my media files" that pulls your gallery directly up when clicked on...

It'll pick up, it does appear alot slower than normal. I always liked the fact that it didn't move as fast as some of the other boards and I could actually keep up with it. It also makes it seem friendlier, to me anyhow.

Glad to see the post count is back and I really like the members vehicles being listed... cool **** indeed!

Well, I will be the FIRST to admit that the last few months w/ my personal life and just life in general, Ive been a little scarce here. Actually Very Scarce! :(
Ive been mainly active in one other Mustang Board for personal reasons, and I dont even get on there every day..and Ive been to other boards too, but thats not why.
Seems like when I do post, its just different. And the last time I made a thread, I felt a little blown off.....thats just ME! Guess I'm a little sensitive... Even though it was something that I posted on other boards, It was still important enough to me to wanna share it here w/ those of you that DONT frequent any other forums and with boards that I feel like are my 'home'.....
anyways...I'm still around. :) And although I dont post like I used to, its not saying that I wont ever. I miss alot of you guys and I do check out the boards from time to time to keep up w/ those that have remained my friends...
I hope everone is doing great, and I'm sure as far as MW goes....It will come back again. Like Dan says...It ALWAYS does!!! I still consider MW my home. :D

Geeze, I haven't posted here in a long time. I see a few old names like TT, Chris, Tireburner, RBatson, etc, but a lot of new names as well. I initially left for two reasons. 1) The site runs too slow. I was on dial up and it was pure hell. I'm now on DSL.... and it's still slow. :( 2) I moved on to another site where I can talk politics, sex, computers, and cars all at once.

Don't get me wrong, this is still a great site. The tech info is outstanding and there are knowledgable people here too.

Ponycar_302 - Glad to have you back. I hope you'll stay around and keep posting. What caught my eye here though is you said the site was slow... You know, a few people have said that at times, but I just can't see it. I've tested loading this site from multiple locations, on both dial-up and broad band services, and it always loads fine for me. In fact, with recent changes that have been implemented and those about to come with hardware/servers, it's only gotten and will continue to get better too. Any time I've tried, the site pages load in under only a second or two with broad band (cable/DSL) and in under 30 seconds (depending on the page) with dial-up. I just used my dial-up account on my laptop and loaded the forums homepage in less than 20 seconds with a 56K connection.

Most would not be aware, but Mustang Works has TONS of hardware power behind it. Mustang Works is actually now part of my company, McClain Technologies, Inc. that I formed this year. MTI has a 20 server data center with all dual processor IBM servers using high speed SCSI RAID arrays on a high speed internal network and is jacked into the Internet through a fractional T3. The main site, the forums, the media center, ad system, and the images that make up the site design ALL have dedicated servers for them. And, it's all about to get even more power by being switched from individual dedicated servers to being run on a hardware load balanced system served by a cluster of EIGHT dual CPU IBM servers. Man, I don't know what to do in order to make things faster and more scalable than that on this end! :rolleyes: Yeah, the site's graphical design is a bit "fat", but it's not that bad... especially on broad band. It FLIES over here with any testing I do on any kind of a high speed connection (not to mention sitting on the LAN).

Don't sweat it, Dan. I'm not angry or anything. My #2 reason I've stated should have been #1. I enjoy bouncing from subject to subject, which is why I post at discussion site. I get my news there, talk politics, talk sex, enter in photo chop contests, read jokes, give car advice, etc. This is a great board, but the main two topics are cars and ricers. I don't care to talk about ricers, and I can only talk cars so much before I have to go argue with a liberal commie democrat against turning America into another socialist failure like the former USSR. :D

There have been a lot of recent changes that have been made to the set-up over here. Perhaps it occurred when I was having to stop/start equipment or take things offline for brief periods. I have done a lot of work lately in the "wee hours" when traffic is at it's lowest and the least interruption will happen. The entire network was re-engineered over here over the past week...

Yeah, that's one of the things I really like about this board, not having to wade through 2 pages of posts trying to find the one I participated in a day ago, but not this slow :). I agree, it does make it seem friendlier and not just a big hussle and bussle (man, that's the first time I've ever used that phrase :rolleyes: ).

Now, you guys see this thread? This is how it was when I enjoyed it the most, except there'd be about 3 or 4 threads in the BOL like this (# of replies), and about 5-7 very active threads in the SRC (and a few wonderful flames).
