![]() I was so suprised to hear the Weather Channel say the south is going to be getting "Some" snow.
Great, thats gonna make work go nuts! I thought drearfully. I shuddered at the thought of having to go in for the morning shift to help them out like I've had to do before. Just hope they dont decide to work on Saturday if things get ugly today and Thursday. That will SUCK, I'm supposed to do something with the FireBird girl, and I've been biting my nails and counting the days for 2 WEEKS! I will not have it ruined by work. I work twice the amount I'm supposed to anyway. I'll just tell them I already made plans to go out of town Friday night. What really got me all pumped and worried about the possbility of my Saturday (Possibly weekend) with the firebird girl is the Weather Channel said that "Little" bit of snow might be a foot of accumulation but Thursday. Dont get me wrong, I'm used to snow. I grew up in the North, I love snow. But North Carolina is not equiped to deal with anything more than one Millameter of sitting snow. I'll be driving my moms car to work, she suggested it. And if the morning shift doesnt work Tonight, that means there will be no work for me Thursday, which means day off (In this case thats a bad thing) which will more than likely mean, we might be delivering Saturday, which means work for me Saturday NIGHT......NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO ![]() I hope the Weather Channel is serouisly wrong.... |

![]() I hear ya bud. We've got about 5" on the ground right now. Maybe some more coming on Saturday. I haven't driven the stang in over two weeks except to take it to the barn to replace the heater core. Oh, I also got the exhaust gaskets replaced (man...GearWrenches are absolute life savers for that last passenger side header bolt!).
I tried to take my car out about a month ago when we had a 2-3" snow one night. All I wanted to do was get to the mall to buy some cookies for my then pseudo g/f (don't ask...long story) who wasn't feeling too spry. The mall is about one mile from my house. It took me an hour to get there and a bit more to get back. I got stuck twice...once going up a very slight hill with no chance to build momentum back to my appartment. Seeing as how the front tires have much more tread than the back, and I didn't have any cement bags to throw in the back, the front wheels stopped while the back wheels didn't....well, you can see where that gets you on smooth packed snow. Anyway, the result is that I swore off driving the stang in snow or ice ever again. I ended up buying my grandmother's old '91 Geo Prism. That car drives like a snowcat in ice and gets over 30mpg! It's pale blue, it's an econo-box, and it will ruin my reputation in Amarillo, but it has heat and saves money. Anyway, I'm rambling because I'm bored...stuck at home...don't work until tonight. Good luck with getting to see Firebird girl. I hope things work out for you. Have fun and be safe. --nathan

![]() Hey, we just got some snow today for the first time this year in Augusta. Snowed for about 3 hrs. Stuck on the ground. It's kinda sleeting right now. About 0.25 inches on the ground. That'll probably be all we get for the year.

![]() I know what your saying, Merc. I have to call in at 8 am and see if we are working. I really hope Charlotte and Raleigh don't get it bad, that would mean nothing coming and going in this area and its PILING UP somewhere else. When we finally get what's coming to us, its like xmas or worse..
I feel for ya on the salary situation.. Better to get paid by the hour, unless you're a BIG dog.. |

![]() Well guys. Its 12:15 at night, and the roads are horrible here. We probably already have 4-5 inches out side.
I'm stuck here at work. I have to spend the night here. Man, nothing like waking up and........the first face you see is your boss! ![]() I'm considering trying to go home, but I shut the place down at 8:15, regardless of what frieght we had still to come in. I had to get the LineHaul guy out before the roads got to bad. I sent everyone home, and unloaded and loaded the rest of the vans myself (Only 4 of them still werent in by the time). Most of my employees called me to tell me they got home safe. Majority spent an hour going 10-15 miles. I live 23 miles from work. This sucks. Were expecting another 8 inches Thursday. I'll probably get snowed in again, and unable to leave. Well,at least I got to talk to the Firebird girl. She called me right before I left for work, she had just gotten home from Canada, and didnt even unpack her car first. I called her and talked to her for alittle bit. She was pretty busy getting caught up with work that piled up on her the 2 weeks she was gone. She e-mailed me about an hour later. ![]() I'm happy if you all couldnt tell, well not about being stuck at work for the night and morning though. ![]() Rbatson Yeah, were still not sure if were running tommorrow either. My terminal manager said he'll wake up and see how things look before making the decision. Well, they aint getting anybetter, and it looks like pure Sh#t outside. Only getting worse. Pony Power That would kick a##. Unfortunatley its probably all going to have melted by then, and theres no snow in the forecast.......Now...If I rent a few snow machines and place them outside of her apartment........Yes....Thats an idea... ![]() |

![]() Man, it's just plain nasty outside...an accident waiting to happen. We got about a 1/2 inch of snow here in Augusta, earlier today. suppose to do more tonight and early tomorrow. Right now it's sleeting really bad. I was planning on going to work tomorrow, but screw it now. It takes me about 45 minutes to get to work in the mornings through a lot of traffic and I ain't about to go that far in this kind of weather condition. So I get an extra long weekend.

![]() Ha ha ha ha. Overnight, it went from ~1/2 inch to ~1.5 inches and it's still snowing. THis is the most snow we've had in about 6 years over here. Yep, I made a good choice in staying home today--definately. It looks awesome side.

![]() Well, I got home last night, after an hour and half of driving, well mostly sliding in the snow.
See, driving like a crazed maniac/moron on dry roads has its benefits. All that power sliding and drifting got me ready for sliding on snow (No, Not ice). It was actually kinda fun. Rbatson. Of the 24 drivers we have, we only sent out 5. The Ft Bragg and Fayettville guys. We wont be picking up crap, so I wont need to call any of my package handlers in. Managers have to be there though. All I have to do today is paperwork and balancing COD deposits, and do the nightly closings, so it shouldnt be a long night at all. Probably get out at 8:00 or 9:00. They called me and told me as soon as I get there, they are all heading home. Figures...... Then I'll come home and play some of my GameCube, or if the Firebird girl would like, go over her house.....THEN GET SNOWED IN. WOULDNT THAT BE A SHAME.... ![]() ![]() |

![]() Hah ha ah aha ha. I just took the '91 into town. It was piled on with snow. I got onto the hwy up to about 55 mph and big sheets of snow/ice lift off and flew up off the car (from the hood, and top) and was flying towards people driving behind me.
