Post Someone explain this to me...

Was at a car show last night. While it was fun, something interesting happened...

There were 4 cars in my class:
3 stock or near stock 99-01 corvettes
(OK, one guy had some "flames" painted on his cylinder heads...)
and ME!

Well the votes were tallied and 2 of the 3 corvettes won....

While most of the time I could care less, (I go to the shows to hang out more than anything...) why the heck would people vote for "just bought" corvettes over a 12 second mustang with an engine bay that looks like it came from the Road Warrior movie?

I have some other stories about these folks from our car show (I'm the car cruise director for our club), and trust me when I say that these folks are the pure definition of "snobs"...

About 2 months ago at our show one of these two "winners" threatens to kick my a@# if I put someone else in a space he was saving for the other corvette..... and I was running the show! I should've kicked em out, but I didn't.... I was glad they didn't win that night... That isn't the only story I've got about these folks...

If God is nice, I might catch one of these losers at a light... See what that 50 grand does them then!!!

Just venting...

Thumbs up

This oughtta make you feel better!!!!! I was in a show last month w/ 4 in my class. The other 3 were all my runnin' buddies from my club. Me,'94 Cobra,96 I think Camaro(guy that heads up my whole Club) and '99 Vette(its really beautiful, he's done Alot to it) (he Always wins.) anyways, i have no business being in w/ all these cars, but because the mods, i was again stuck! Well, turns out Slomaro got 1st, I got 2nd, and '94 Cobra got 3rd!!! I couldn't believe it!!! I had no business beating them, and we all knew it. But I was kinda cool.!! Made for a good laugh. THe VETTE was EMPTY HANDED> he was STUNNED(as we were too!)
I've never really seen why show a brand new car off the showroom floor, but alot of the Vette people do that. I see that alot. Do you ever got your judging sheets??? You should to see where they got you and how you scored. You cant really figure why till you see your sheet, I always get mine. Hope that cheered you up a little bit!!! Topless

I wasn't really serious about fear of being yelled at. I just meant to point out the differences between "street racers" and "show cars". Believe me , I love them all. Certainly, some can do both.

Wish I could do both. Oh well I don't think I will ever get a paint job to do it. Just have to stick to racing. To bad those guys are real snobs in takes away of the whole point I think. If u can't go and have a good time and be freindly to people then why go at all. Hammer hope u find them on the street and whip their butts.

In my area, I have found that there are few "fair" judged shows. Most are participant voting. And even some that are judged by the club members who run the show, aren't always fair. I just went to one that was quoted as "judged", and since they didn't have enough members to judge all the classes, they had "friends" of the club look at cars and pick winners. One particular class was 87-95. An Avanti placed himself in that class! We all knew this Avanti was a kit car based on a car made in the 60's (I believe). But he won in that class, cause the guy judging didn't. Even if it was built sometime between the years of that class, he shouldn't have been there. Made no sense to me. That would be like putting a Kit Cobra in that class cause they had it built in 95 or something.

Anyway, enough of my venting. I guess my lesson is, that if your looking for real judged shows, you have to research the show carefully, know who's doing the judging and HOW the judging will be done. Scored vs just being looked over. Especially in shows that include other make cars, vs just Mustang/Ford shows.

Wink

Ya I was at this show too (although I did not enter) and these vettes were just vettes, Hammer's car is way cooler than all those stock vettes.

They weren't even Z06's either, just a couple coupes and a convertiable! That sucked, eh.

Oh well just think of it this way hammer, when you meet these goof balls on the street, and beet there prissy little bottoms off, guess who'll have the last laugh!

Well I think it should make you feel really smart to be the minority in a show that actually has valid reasoning...not to say that vettes suck, are slow, cheaply made, ugly or anything to deface the car...but I would vote for a Stock 75 mustangII over a stock vette just rolled off the showroom floor cus someone has money to blow. But you know it just sets you up for a chance to smack em down. You can show em that the only thing about their car they understood was the price.

as has been said in other posts, corvette owners are dicks. to be more accurate, they often have problems with their dicks. just like all luxury car owners....
