Default 95 Supra or 99+ GT (Im gonna trade in the GMC)

I like my truck but it isnt sporty enough so I am going to trade it in this summer. I want either a

95+TT Supra
99+GT mustang

I am leaning more towards the supra cause there are not as many on the road and I just think it would be cool to have a twin turbo car.

I dont know anything about Supras can anyone give me the pro's and con's..between the two

Thanks,

Smile 'Stang vs Supra TT

The Toyota Supra TT has a 3.0 6 cylinder engine with 320 HP and does mid-to-high 13's in the quarter. A 'real' sports car with excellent handling, brakes and gobs of TT power.

The '99 GT has a 4.6 V-8 with 260 HP and runs low 14's in the quarter.

A '95 Supra TT runs around $18,000. retail. Newer models are higher, of course but these cars are also rather rare, not easily found at the local car lot.

A '99 GT runs around $16,000. but will probably have lower mileage on it.

For the price of a seven-year-old Toyota Supra with mileage in the 70,000 range you could buy a nice 2000 Mustang GT with about 30,000 miles on it.

Insurance may be higher on the Supra, too.

Unless your heart is set on a Japanese turbo-powered car, the Mustang is a much better buy all around and with a few mods (gears, exhaust) can match the Supra TT in performance.

you make a good point about the TT supra being rare I have been looking for 2 months and I found one in Lubbuck TX.

Some of my friends tell me why not an LS1, I used to own a 96 formula firebird and it was a POS big time not so much the engine...but many electrical problems.

The 2 imports I really like are the Supra's and the Skylines.....but a skyline is unrealistic..

My 88 Gt is my race car the car I am going to get is going to be my daily driver.

Thanks,

The TT Mark IV Supra strikes fear into the LS1 F body owners. It can, and does outrun them with alarming regularity, especially on the top end. A low 13 second car with the capability to run much quicker is what it is.

That being said, they are not known for reliability.

I would rather have a 96+ Cobra.

I have had the chance to drive a few twin turbo Supras and they are awesome, especially the six speed. The rarity of Supras is a plus, but you won't have the rumble of a v-8. I think you should buy a twin turbo supra and put a v-8 in it.

Not all the Supra's are Twin turbo's, you have non-turbo, single turbo, TT. Now go to www.suprastore.com if you want to get pumped. $1400 will get you 450hp and 11's if set-up right. MMMMMMMMM....

Supras are awesome. I would say since you already have a Mustang buy the Supra if you can find a good one. Skylines are sweet too but you can't get them in the US unlesss you pay lots of money ang get them through an importer in Los Angeles area i believe.

Personally, between the two choices, I would go with the Supra. Not only does it look better (imo), but you start out with a better performing car. Like 1bad89 pointed out, you can have a high 11 second car for 1400 in mods and drag radials. I know someone is going to point out high hp Supra's running slow times, but that is all in the driver. The launch in a turbo car is everything......get it right and you leave with minimal wheel spin and a fast spooling turbo...get it wrong and you either bog or get too much wheel spin. How I see it, there are only two reasons to get the Gt instead: 1. The backseat is slightly bigger and more comfortable. 2. Better warranty available.
